Edwina Hume Fallis
Edwina Hume Fallis (November 15, 1876 – September 14, 1957) was an American educator, writer, poet, and toy designer. Her memoir for children, ''When Denver and I Were Young'' (1956), went through two printings, and she published over 100 poems. She was posthumously inducted into the Colorado Women's Hall of Fame in 1989. Early life and education Edwina Hume Fallis was born in Denver, Colorado and grew up in a house at the corner of West 14th and Acoma Streets, which is now the site of the Denver Public Library. Her mother's father, Daniel Hurd, was president of the Denver school board. Fallis studied in the Denver public school system and graduated from East High School in 1895. She spoke at the graduation ceremony on "Ideas Stronger Than Armies", discussing "great historical ideas". She went on to graduate from the Colorado State College of Education. Ian Blair Fallis (26 January 1954 – 3 October 1977) was a Scottish footballer who played as a forward. Iva Campbell Fallis
Iva Campbell Fallis (June 23, 1883 – March 7, 1956) was the second female Canadian Senator. Early life and family Iva Campbell Fallis was born on a Northumberland County farm near Castledon, ON June 23, 1883. Fallis was the daughter of Jessie Stewart and Michael John Doyle, the warden of the county. She attended the Toronto Normal School and became a school teacher. In 1909, she married Howard Taylor Fallis in Colborne, ON. Career Fallis' career began with her becoming a teacher in Bethany, ON, where she met Howard Taylor Fallis whom she would later marry in Colborne, ON in 1909. The pair farmed in Saskatchewan for several years until they moved to a farm near Peterborough, ON called Smith Township in 1917. Jacque Batt (née Fallis, January 31, 1926 – September 7, 2014) was an American First Lady. She was the First Lady of Idaho while her husband Phil Batt was Governor of Idaho from January 2, 1995 to January 4, 1999. She was instrumental in founding the Pink Tea in 1998, an organization that raised money for free mammograms for women in need. James Robinson Fallis
James Robinson Fallis (December 12, 1871 – May 11, 1935) was an Ontario livestock dealer and political figure. He represented Peel in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as a Conservative member from 1913 to 1916. He was born in Brampton, Ontario, the son of James Fallis, and educated there. In 1899, he married Sarah Jane Lawson. He was elected in a 1913 by-election held after Samuel Charters resigned his seat in the provincial assembly to become Registrar of Peel County. He died May 11, 1935. Career In 1903, Fallis' steers were described in ''The Globe'' as being considered "the best that have ever entertained this market", the Union Stock Yards. At the 1912 meeting of Peel's County Conservative Association, Fallis was elected secretary.
