Falling Deeper
''Falling Deeper'' is an album of orchestral re-interpretations from British atmospheric rock band Anathema released on 5 September 2011. The album is a follow-up to 2008's '' Hindsight'', for which the band recorded different versions of their past songs. The album was produced by singer/guitarist Vincent Cavanagh and guitarist and main composer of the band Daniel Cavanagh who defines the record as “a nod to our past and a look to our future all at the same time, with a sound that is designed to transport you to the heart of the present moment.” The mixing was made by Andrea Wright at Parr Street Studios in Liverpool. The orchestral arrangements are composed by the band in collaboration with Dave Stewart who worked with Anathema on '' We're Here Because We're Here''. The songs received new musical and vocal arrangements with 'feedback' lead guitars centred on a grand piano and a rhythm section. Anathema (band)
Anathema were an English rock band from Liverpool. The group was formed in 1990 by Vincent and Daniel Cavanagh, bassist Jamie Cavanagh, drummer/keyboardist John Douglas, and vocalist Darren White. The band maintained an active concert schedule throughout their career. They first toured in 1992 with the American death metal band Cannibal Corpse; they since performed throughout Europe, the United States, Central America, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Turkey. In the latter stages of their career, the band performed at notable venues such as London's O2 Arena, Wembley Arena, and the London Palladium, as well as appearing on stage with Stephen Hawking at Starmus Festival 3. Anathema released 11 studio albums, including ''Distant Satellites'' (2014), which included the song "Anathema", named the Anthem of the Year at the third annual Progressive Music Awards. The Crestfallen
''The Crestfallen'' is a demo EP by the British doom metal band Anathema. Release It was the first official release in Anathema's discography. "They Die" was not included on the vinyl version. In 1994, The Futurist Label included all of the tracks as part of the band's first album '' Serenades''. The following year, Peaceville released the EP as a double CD with '' Serenades''. In 2001, it was re-issued together with '' Pentecost III'' on one disc. Orchestral versions of "Crestfallen", "They Die" and "Everwake" were recorded for the 2011 compilation '' Falling Deeper''. The bass guitar, electric bass or simply bass (), is the lowest-pitched member of the string family. It is a plucked string instrument similar in appearance and construction to an electric or an acoustic guitar, but with a longer neck and scale length, and typically four to six strings or courses. Guitar
The guitar is a fretted musical instrument that typically has six strings. It is usually held flat against the player's body and played by strumming or plucking the strings with the dominant hand, while simultaneously pressing selected strings against frets with the fingers of the opposite hand. The Silent Enigma
''The Silent Enigma'' is the second album by British rock band Anathema, released on 1995 through Peaceville Records. Recording and legacy ''The Silent Enigma'' represents a turning point in Anathema's career (it is the first album to feature guitarist Vincent Cavanagh singing lead vocals, replacing Darren White) and sees the band incorporating more clean vocals and melodic elements, while still retaining the band's early death-doom style. The album was originally titled ''Rise Pantheon Dreams'', a title later used by White for his post-Anathema project The Blood Divine. Where Darren's vocals were more guttural, Vincent's newer style pushed the possibilities for Anathema onwards and upwards, with a scope and breath beyond his years. Pentecost III
''Pentecost III'' is an EP by the British doom metal band Anathema. It was recorded in 1994 but, due to a merging between labels Peaceville Records and Music for Nations, was not released until 1995. By this time, Darren White had been ousted from the band, whose remaining members were already working on their next album, '' The Silent Enigma''. ''Pentecost III'' was re-issued as on one CD with '' The Crestfallen'' in 2001. Track listing All lyrics written by White, all music written by Anathema. Serenades (album)
''Serenades'' is the full-length debut album by British rock band Anathema. It was released on 28 February 1993 through Peaceville Records. It is their only album to feature Darren White on lead vocals. Rhythm guitarist Vincent Cavanagh sang lead on all subsequent albums. Background ''Serenades'' expands on material from ''The Crestfallen'' EP, but features more experimentation and variation throughout. It was recorded between June and September 1992 at Yorkshire-based Academy Studios, the same place where ''The Crestfallen'' had been recorded one year prior. Composition ''Serenades'' is mainly a death-doom album. Lyrical themes include being lovelorn ("Lovelorn Rhapsody"), trauma and war ("Sleepless") and lust ("Under a Veil f Black Lace). Duncan Patterson
Duncan Patterson (born 5 June 1975) is an English musician, best known for his work as a member of Anathema (1991–1998) and Antimatter (1998–2005). Career Patterson was a driving force behind Anathema's success during their earlier years, being the principal songwriter on the Eternity and Alternative 4 albums. These songs were Anathema's shift towards a softer, deeper style.. He quit Anathema in 1998 and formed a new project called Antimatter. After releasing four albums with Antimatter, spanning several genres ( ambient, electronica, acoustic), he started another full-time project called Íon, a mix of acoustic and traditional music. In between recording and touring his own projects, he has enjoyed chart success with the Irish alternative rock band The Aftermath, playing on three Top 20 singles, as well as appearing on their debut album, '' Friendlier Up Here'' alongside The Waterboys' Steve Wickham. Darren "Daz" White
Darren White is an English musician raised in Liverpool and best known as the original vocalist for the band Anathema. His low death grunts on the band's early recordings pinpointed the group's early identification with the death/doom genre. White also fronted other bands, including The Blood Divine with former members of Cradle of Filth (for which he did backing vocals/spoken words on ''The Principle of Evil Made Flesh'') and Dead Men Dream. His project, Serotonal, has been described as "drone/atmospheric doom". In February 2009 Serotonal signed a record deal with Union Black Records, and debut album ''Monumental - Songs of Misery and Hope'' was released on 24 November 2009. Darren is also erroneously said to have played drums for Cradle of Filth in 1991–92. This, however, was Darren Gardner. He is now singing in Antifear alongside ex- Anathema bandmate Duncan Patterson.
