Fallen Empires Tour
The Fallen Empires Tour was a world tour by Scottish/Northern Irish alternative rock band Snow Patrol. Background The tour was announced on September 20, 2011 with dates in Dublin and Belfast only. Tickets for these shows went on sale on September 22, 2011. These two shows sold out causing the band to add a further date in Dublin with two extra shows being announced for Belfast. The first continental Europe show were announced in October 2011 with dates across Germany. A show in Rotterdam was announced for March 1, this show sold out within 30 minutes of going on sale resulting in another show being added for the following night. Shows in Denmark and Sweden were announced on November 23. The band will also make to debut appearance in Dubai when they perform at the Atlantis Hotel Open Air Event alongside Calvin Harris on March 9. Snow Patrol
Snow Patrol are a Northern Irish–Scottish Rock music, rock band formed in 1994 in Dundee, Scotland. They consist of Gary Lightbody (vocals, guitar), Nathan Connolly (guitar, backing vocals), Paul Wilson (musician), Paul Wilson (bass guitar, backing vocals), Jonny Quinn (drums), and Johnny McDaid (piano, guitar, backing vocals). Initially an indie rock band, Snow Patrol rose to prominence in the early– mid-2000s as part of the post-Britpop movement. "New York" is a song by Northern Irish alternative rock group Snow Patrol. The track is the third single from the band's sixth studio album, '' Fallen Empires''. It was released as a digital download on 20 December 2011 in the US. Background and writing Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody struggled with writer's block when penning ''Fallen Empires''. Speaking to Q magazine, the singer explained how a chance meeting with R.E.M. vocalist Michael Stipe at a Californian studio rejuvenated his writing process. "Crack the Shutters" is a song from alternative rock band Snow Patrol's fifth album '' A Hundred Million Suns''. It was released as the follow-up single to " Take Back the City" on different dates in December 2008 depending on the region, and was the second single taken from the album. "Hands Open" is the second American single from Snow Patrol's fourth album, ''Eyes Open''. It was released June 2006. It received substantial radio play on modern rock radio, peaking at number 21 on the US ''Billboard'' Modern Rock Tracks chart. However, it did not cross over to any other radio formats, unlike the previous single, "Chasing Cars". The third verse references American indie-folk singer/songwriter Sufjan Stevens and the song "Chicago" with the lyrics "Put Sufjan Stevens on/And we'll play your favorite song/'Chicago' bursts to life/And your sweet smile remembers you."
