Fall River Pass Ranger Station
The Fall River Pass Ranger Station in Rocky Mountain National Park was designed by National Park Service landscape architect Daniel Ray Hull in the National Park Service Rustic style. Built in 1922, the stone structure is similar in design to the Chasm Lake Shelter. Between 1933 and 1937 the ranger station was converted to a museum. The ranger station is associated with the construction of the nearby Trail Ridge Road. Located above the tree line, the building has a trap door in the roof to allow access when the door is blocked by drifting snow. Estes Park is a statutory town in Larimer County, Colorado, United States. The town population was 5,904 at the 2020 United States Census. Rocky Mountain National Park
Rocky Mountain National Park is an American national park located approximately northwest of Denver in north-central Colorado, within the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. The park is situated between the towns of Estes Park to the east and Grand Lake to the west. The eastern and western slopes of the Continental Divide run directly through the center of the park with the headwaters of the Colorado River located in the park's northwestern region. Daniel Ray Hull
Daniel Ray Hull (1890–1964), sometimes stated Daniel P. Hull, was an American landscape architect who was responsible for much of the early planning of the built environment the national parks of the United States during the 1920s. Hull planned town sites, designed landscapes, and designed individual buildings for the Park Service, in private practice, and later for the California State Parks. A number of his works are listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. Early life and education Hull was born in Lincoln, Kansas on April 29, 1890, the son of O. U. Hull, and studied landscape architecture and city planning at the University of Illinois, receiving his degree in 1913. Trail Ridge Road
Trail Ridge Road is the name for the stretch of U.S. Highway 34 that traverses Rocky Mountain National Park from Estes Park, Colorado in the east to Grand Lake, Colorado in the west. Together with the connecting Beaver Meadow Road (U.S. Highway 36), Trail Ridge Road forms the Trail Ridge Road/Beaver Meadow National Scenic Byway, an All-American Road. The Fall River Pump House and Catchment Basin in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado, are utility structures which treat water for the Fall River Pass Museum and the Alpine Visitor Center. Description Built in 1938, the facility was designed by National Park Service landscape architects L. Fletcher and W.G. Hill in the National Park Service Rustic style then favored. The pump house is a simple stone-faced concrete building, built into the hillside. The catchment basin captures a stream behind a small stone-faced concrete dam.
