Fall (Overlake Album)
''Fall'' is the second studio album from the American rock band Overlake. Content The eight-track album was released on vinyl, compact disc on digital download on May 12, 2017, with Bar/None Records. It is produced by Overlake and Tom Beajour. The album is described as shimmering psych pop, is reminiscent of 1990s shoegaze, and compared to the music of Guided by Voices, and My Bloody Valentine. Barrett notes in an interview with '' The Jersey Journal'', that drummer Nick D'Amore being in the band for year prior to its recording, they "finally landed on our sound and that tleads to this record sounding more cohesive." Overlake (band)
Overlake is a shoegaze and indie rock trio from Jersey City, New Jersey. History Overlake formed in 2012, when guitarist and vocalist Tom Barrett and bassist and vocalist Lysa Opfer, who were playing in another group, became friends over their mutual interest in 1990s bands, and decided to collaborate. Drummer Scotty Imp soon joined the duo to complete Overlake. Their music draws comparison to the bands My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive. In 2014, Overlake signed with the record label Killing Horse Records. Killing Horse Records Overlake released their debut album '' Sighs'' on compact disc and digital download on April 15, 2014, via Killing Horse Records. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Shoegaze (originally called shoegazing and sometimes conflated with "dream pop") is a subgenre of indie and alternative rock characterized by its ethereal mixture of obscured vocals, guitar distortion and effects, feedback, and overwhelming volume.Pete Prown / Harvey P. Bar/None Records is an independent record label based in Hoboken, New Jersey. Early history Tom Prendergast started Bar/None in early 1986 in Hoboken, New Jersey. Having previously worked in pirate radio and booked and promoted bands in his native Ireland, Prendergast moved to Hoboken in 1982. The first release on Bar/None was by Rage to Live, whose leader, Glenn Morrow, soon became a partner in the label. Morrow had already built a network of contacts in the alternative music community having toured nationally with his previous band, The Individuals, and had also worked in the A&R department of Warner Bros. and as the managing editor of ''New York Rocker'' magazine. ''The Big Takeover'' is a bi-annual music magazine published out of New York City since May 1980 by critic Jack Rabid. History Establishment Jack Rabid and Dave Stein began publishing ''The Big Takeover'' in May 1980 as a fanzine dedicated to New York punk band the Stimulators. The pair had formed a garage band the previous month called Even Worse, originally playing mainly punk rock cover songs. ''The Deli'' was a Brooklyn based independent music magazine, with both print and online editions, as well as a blog (still active) that covers local music scenes and their emerging artists.
