Peter Falk
Peter Michael Falk (September 16, 1927 – June 23, 2011) was an American film and television actor. He is best known for his role as Lieutenant Columbo in the long-running television series ''Columbo'' (1968–1978, 1989–2003), for which he won four Primetime Emmy Awards (1972, 1975, 1976, 1990) and a Golden Globe Award (1973). He first starred as Columbo in two 2-hour "World Premiere" TV pilots; the first with Gene Barry in 1968 and the second with Lee Grant in 1971. The show then aired as part of ''The NBC Mystery Movie'' series from 1971 to 1978, and again on ABC from 1989 to 2003. Falk was twice nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, for ''Murder, Inc.'' (1960) and ''Pocketful of Miracles'' (1961), and won his first Emmy Award in 1962 for ''The Dick Powell Theatre''. Paul Falk
Paul Falk (; 21 December 1921 – 20 May 2017) was a German pair skater. Born in Dortmund, Germany, he skated with Ria Baran and became two-time World champion and 1952 Olympic champion. Baran and Falk married during their active international figure skating. The pair skated for the club Düsseldorfer EG and had no coach. Until 1951 Baran and Falk were not able to participate in international competitions because Germany was excluded from international sport after World War II. They were the first couple who performed side by side double jumps and they also invented the Lasso-Lift. Baran and Falk were never defeated in amateur competition. In 1951 Falk was voted the male athlete of the year in Germany. After winning the Olympics in 1952 they turned professional and worked for Holiday on Ice. Miksa Falk (or sometimes Maximilian Falk, 7 October 1828 – 10 September 1908) was a Hungarian politician, journalist, member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the editor-in-chief of the German-language newspaper '' Pester Lloyd''. Early life Falk was born to an impoverished Hungarian-Jewish merchant family in Pest, which was a separate town (on the east bank of the river Danube) that was later united with the towns of Buda and Óbuda (on the west bank of the river Danube) in 1873 to form Budapest, the capital of Hungary. At the age of 15, he already wrote articles for German-speaking newspapers in Pest. He studied at the Faculty of Arts in Vienna. He returned to Pest in 1848, but soon he went back to Vienna. From 1867 he lived in Hungary. Once he was misunderstood to be the great-grandfather of Peter Falk, after the American actor mentioned that he had some Hungarian ancestors. Lucas Andrew Falk (born December 28, 1994) is an American football quarterback who is a free agent. He played college football at Washington State, and was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He has played for the Tennessee Titans, Miami Dolphins, and the New York Jets. Falk started the 2019 season as the third quarterback on the roster of the New York Jets and played in three games, due to an illness affecting starting quarterback Sam Darnold and an injury to Trevor Siemian sustained in week two of the regular season. Joshua ben Alexander HaCohen Falk (1555 – 29 March 1614) was a Polish Halakhist and Talmudist, best known as the author of the ''Drisha'' and ''Prisha'' commentaries on the ''Arba'ah Turim'' as well as ''Sefer Me'irat Enayim'' (סמ"ע) on ''Shulkhan Arukh''. Johannes Daniel Falk
Johannes Daniel Falk (28 October 1768 Danzig – 14 February 1826 Weimar) was a German publisher and poet. Falk was born in Danzig (Gdańsk) in the Polish province of Royal Prussia, where he received his first education against the wishes of his father, who wanted to employ the child in his business as wig maker. The Danzig city council granted Falk a theology stipendium at Halle, but he did not become a preacher and frequented literary circles of Schiller and Goethe instead. In late 1815 or early 1816, he wrote the German text ''O du fröhliche'' that became a popular Christmas carol, to the melody of the Catholic hymn '' O Sanctissima''. Falk was the founder of the ''Falk'sche Institute'', a public education place for orphans in Weimar. He died in that city in 1826. Johan Peter Falk (26 November 1732 – 31 March 1774) was a Sweden, Swedish botanist and an Apostles of Linnaeus, apostle of Carl Linnaeus. His first name is sometimes spelled "Johann"; his middle name is sometimes spelled "Pehr"; and his surname is sometimes spelled "Falck". The genus ''Falkia'' is named for him. Biography Falk was born in the parish of Broddetorp in Västergötland, Sweden. He was the son of Peter Falck (1701–1754) and his wife Beata Winge (1706–1771). He studied at the University of Uppsala under Carl Linnaeus as served as a tutor for his son, Carl Linnaeus the Younger. He defended his dissertation in 1762. Falk traveled to Russia and in 1763 and became Curator for the Cabinet of Natural History in St. Petersburg. Jim Falk (born ) is a physicist and academic researcher on science and technology studies. Background Falk was born in Oxford, England. His father was the philosopher Werner D. Falk (latterly professor at the University of North Carolina), and his mother an Australian, Dr. Barbara Cohen. Werner Falk had fled Germany prior to World War II and was studying and lecturing at the University of Oxford. The family moved to Australia when Jim Falk was young, when his father worked at the University of Melbourne. Falk attended Scotch College from 1952 to 1964, graduated with first class honours in physics at Monash University in 1968, and received his PhD from Monash in theoretical quantum physics in 1974.
