The Scots ( sco, Scots Fowk; gd, Albannaich) are an ethnic group and nation native to Scotland. Brian Falconer
Brian Terence Falconer (2 June 1933 – 4 April 2020) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the West Perth Football Club in the Western Australian National Football League (WANFL) and the Hawthorn Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). A wingman, Falconer was one of the few players to transfer from Western Australia to Victoria before the relaxation of transfer conditions, but retired at the age of 27 to concentrate on his career in the public service. He remained involved with Hawthorn after his retirement from playing, and worked to oppose the proposed merger with the Melbourne Football Club in the early 1990s. Duncan Falconer is the pseudonym of an author and former Special Boat Service commando. As a child, he was raised in an orphanage in North London before being adopted by a family from Battersea. Military career Falconer joined the British Royal Marines at the age of 18. At 19 years of age, he attended United Kingdom Special Forces Selection, SBS selection in Poole Dorset and was one of nine Marines to successfully complete the course out of 147 men. Most candidates are required to serve some time in a Commando unit before applying, however Duncan was given an exception. This was due to many SBS operatives leaving to instead work as deep sea divers in the North Sea for the lucrative salaries. Sir Douglas William Falconer, MBE (20 September 1914 – 18 December 2007) was an English barrister and High Court judge. A patent law specialist, he sat in the Chancery Division from 1981 to 1989. Biography Douglas Falconer was born in South Shields in 1914, the son of William Falconer, an unemployed shipyard worker. He was educated at the local elementary school, before attending South Shields Grammar School on a scholarship. He then read Physics at King’s College, Durham, graduating with a BSc (Hons) in 1935. He became a teacher, first in either Leicester or Newcastle, then at Bromsgrove School. Douglas Scott Falconer (10 March 1913 in Oldmeldrum, Aberdeenshire – 23 February 2004 in Edinburgh) was a Scottish geneticist known for his work in quantitative genetics. Falconer's book ''Introduction to quantitative genetics'' was written in 1960 and became a valuable reference for generations of scientists. Its latest edition dates back to 1996 and is coauthored by Trudy Mackay. Falconer graduated with first class honors in zoology from the University of St Andrews in 1940.
