Anton Reinhard Falck
Anton Reinhard Falck (19 March 1777 in Utrecht16 March 1843 in Brussels) was a Dutch statesman. He studied at the University of Leiden, and entered the Dutch diplomat service, being appointed to the legation at Madrid, Spain. Under King Louis Napoleon he was secretary-general for foreign affairs, but resigned from office due to the annexation of the Batavian Republic of France. He took a leading part in the revolt of 1813 against French domination, and was instrumental in the organization of the new kingdom of the Netherlands by drafting the Eight Articles of London which laid the foundation. As minister of education under William I he reorganized the universities Ghent, Leuven and Liège, and the Royal Academy of Brussels. Side by side with his activities in education he directed the departments of trade and the colonies. Maureen Cathryn Harriet "Cats" Falck (11 July 1953 – date of death uncertain, between November 1984 and May 1985) was a Swedish television journalist who, together with her friend Lena Gräns, disappeared in Stockholm in 1984 while she was investigating a scandal involving the smuggling of weapons from Sweden to communist states in Eastern Europe. The dead bodies of Falck and Gräns were later found at the bottom of the Hammarby Canal in Stockholm. The deaths remain unsolved but later reports claim that they were assassinated in a state-sponsored operation by agents from East Germany. Cats Falck was born in Enskede in Stockholm, Sweden. Hildegard Falck (née ''Janze'' on 8 June 1949) is a retired West German runner. At the 1972 Olympics she won a gold medal in the 800 m and a bronze medal in the 4 × 400 m relay with West German team. In the 800 m final she finished 0.1 seconds ahead of Nijolė Sabaitė and Gunhild Hoffmeister. On 11 July 1971 Falck ran the 800 m in 1:58.5 minutes in Stuttgart, improving the world record of Vera Nikolic by two seconds. Isak Lauritssøn Falck (1601 – 9 March 1669) was a Norwegian land owner and timber merchant. He is associated with the development of the seaport of Risør in Aust-Agder, Norway. He was born in Sandefjord, Sandeherred (now Sandefjord) in Vestfold, Norway. He was the son of merchant Laurits Kristoffersen, a lumber merchant in Tønsberg. He settled in Risør during the 1620s. He acquired several farms with significant forests, started saw mills, and established a shipyard on the island of Badskjærholmen (now Holmen). In the 1650s, he bought the farm Randvik at Søndeled in Aust-Agder, which included the harbour of Risør and surrounding areas. Johan Peter Falk (26 November 1732 – 31 March 1774) was a Sweden, Swedish botanist and an Apostles of Linnaeus, apostle of Carl Linnaeus. His first name is sometimes spelled "Johann"; his middle name is sometimes spelled "Pehr"; and his surname is sometimes spelled "Falck". The genus ''Falkia'' is named for him. Niels Nikolaus Falck (25 November 1784 – 11 May 1850) was a Danish jurist and historian. Biography He was born at Emmerlef in the Duchy of Schleswig. He was educated at the University of Kiel and became a theological candidate in 1808, graduating dr. phil. in 1809. From 1813 he was appointed professor juris in Kiel. In 1814, he became professor of law at the University of Kiel, and in 1838 he was appointed president of the Schleswig-Holstein Assembly of the States. He published a ''Juristische Encyklopädie'' (“Encyclopedia of jurisprudence,” 5th ed. 1851), and was a prolific author in the history and jurisprudence of Schleswig-Holstein. Richard Falck (7 May 1873 – 1 January 1955) was a German-American botanist and mycologist, who worked as a professor of mycology at the forest academy in Hannoversch Münden before he fled Nazi Germany and the persecution of Jews to finally settle in the United States of America. Sophus August Falck (15 November 1864 in Copenhagen – 29 July 1926 in Copenhagen) was a Denmark, Danish pioneer in the area of firefighting and Emergency service, rescue services. In 1906 he founded the company Falck (emergency services company), Falck Rescue Corps ( da, Falcks Redningskorps).
