Fairywood (Pittsburgh)
Fairywood is a neighborhood on Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania's West End. It has a zip code of 15205, and has representation on Pittsburgh City Council by the council member for District 2 (West Neighborhoods). It is the westernmost neighborhood in the City of Pittsburgh. It was once home to several public housing developments, notably Broadhead Manor, which was torn down after the neighborhood largely depopulated and crime increased. Another Section 8 development was Westgate Village, which was converted into a gated apartment community called Emerald Gardens. Many homes have been demolished over the years after residents moved away and the buildings deteriorated from neglect, and Fairywood now consists of much urban prairie. During the 1960s and 1970s, construction began on a four-lane highway called the Industrial Highway, but it was never completed and has become an abandoned ghost highway. Pennsylvania Route 51
Pennsylvania Route 51 (PA 51) is a major state highway in Western Pennsylvania. It runs for from Uniontown to the Ohio state line near Darlington, where it connects with Ohio State Route 14. PA 51 is the termination point for Pennsylvania Route 43, Pennsylvania Route 48 and Pennsylvania Route 88. The route is a major connection from Uniontown and the rest of Fayette County to Pittsburgh. The highway is four-lane highway south of Pittsburgh as it passes through Pittsburgh's South Hills, but narrows to a two-lane road through several boroughs along the Ohio River. It becomes four lanes again after passing Chippewa Township in Beaver County and continues to the Ohio border. Robinson Township is a township in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States approximately west of Pittsburgh. The population was 13,354 at the 2010 census. Geography Robinson Township is located at (40.458008, -80.128259). According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of , of which is land and , or 1.21%, is water. Crafton, Pennsylvania
Crafton is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States, west of downtown Pittsburgh. The population grew from 1,927 in 1900 to 4,583 in 1910 and to 7,163 in 1940. The population was 6,099 at the 2020 census. History Crafton is named after James S. Craft, a frontier attorney who was granted land near the "forks of the Ohio" in present-day Oakland. The sale of this land part financed purchases of land in the Chartiers valley. Charles Craft, son of James, divided the land into lots on the death of his father and submitted it to the Allegheny County Courthouse as Crafton. Following a period of building, the borough was incorporated on January 8, 1892, with Charles as the first burgess. Crafton was linked to downtown Pittsburgh by trolley in 1896. Esplen is a neighborhood in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania's West End. Esplen started out as a Railroad Camp, which housed workers building the various railroads which border Esplen. Esplen is bordered by the Ohio River to the northeast and southeast, Chartiers Creek, which feeds into the Ohio at Esplen, and McKees Rocks via bridge over the creek to the north, Windgap to the northwest, Chartiers City to the south and southwest, Sheraden to the south, and Elliott to the southeast. Pennsylvania Route 60
Pennsylvania Route 60 (PA 60) is a state highway located in the western suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Although the route follows a mostly east–west alignment, it is signed as a north–south highway. The southern terminus of the route is at a partial interchange with U.S. Route 19 (US 19) and PA 51 in Pittsburgh's West End while the northern terminus is at an interchange with Interstate 376 (I-376), US 22, and US 30 in Robinson Township. The portion of PA 60 outside of Pittsburgh is known as the Steubenville Pike; within the city, PA 60 follows several different streets. The routing of PA 60 was originally designated as part of US 22 and US 30 in the 1920s.
