Fairview High School (Sherwood, Ohio)
Fairview High School is a State school, public Secondary school, high school in Sherwood, Defiance County, Ohio, United States. It is the only high school in the Central Local School District. History In 1958, all high school students in the area that would come to be known as the Central Local School District came to Farmer High School. Since the title of “Farmer” was inaccurate, considering that students from Mark Center, Sherwood, Defiance County, Ohio, Sherwood, Ney, Ohio, Ney as well as Farmer, Ohio, Farmer attended, administrators decided that the school needed a new name. It was then determined that there should be a competition to figure out the new name of the school. The three finalists were the names Fairview, Green Meadows, and William Manahan, which Fairview won. Then another contest was held for the nickname. Bruce Berenyi
Bruce Michael Berenyi (born August 21, 1954) is a former Major League Baseball starting pitcher from 1980 to 1986. Early years Berenyi's uncle was MLB pitcher Ned Garver. Berenyi played basketball as well as baseball at Fairview High School in Sherwood, Ohio. While attending Glen Oaks Community College, Berenyi was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the nineteenth round of the 1975 Major League Baseball draft, but did not sign. After a year at Northwest Missouri State University, he was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the first round (3rd overall) of the June Secondary draft.
