Fairview Beach is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in King George County, Virginia, United States. The population was 391 at the 2010 census, which was up significantly from the 230 reported in 2000. Geography Fairview Beach is located in northwestern King George County at (38.329155, −77.241928), on the south bank of the Potomac River. Access is via Fairview Drive (state route 696) north from Virginia State Route 218. The community is north of King George, the county seat, and northeast of Passapatanzy. According to the United States Census Bureau, the Fairview Beach CDP has a total area of , all of which is recorded as land. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there were 230 people, 112 households, and 63 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 1,507.7 people per square mile (592.0/km2). King George is a census-designated place (CDP) in and the county seat of King George County, Virginia, United States. It is sometimes referred to as King George Courthouse, because it is the location of the King George County Courthouse. The population as of the 2020 census was 4,970. The '' Journal Press'' was a local weekly newspaper published in King George and serving local areas until its final issue was published on Jan 11th, 2017. King George is also home to the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) located in the northeast portion of the county along the Potomac River. Passapatanzy is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in King George County, Virginia, United States. The population as of the 2010 census was 1,283. History It was recorded as a Patawomeck village ruled by ''Japazaws,'' elder brother of the ''weroance''. He conspired with the English adventurer and sea captain, Samuel Argall, who planned to capture Chief Powhatan's daughter, Pocahontas on April 13, 1613 to use as a hostage in English negotiations with Powhatan. They wanted captives and property returned. According to Mattaponi and Patawomeck tradition, Pocahontas was residing there with her husband, Kocoum.
