Fairlea is a census-designated place (CDP) in Greenbrier County, West Virginia, United States. The population was 1,747 at the 2010 census. Fairlea is the location of the annual West Virginia State Fair, held in August. Geography Fairlea is located at (37.779967, -80.458538). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 3.7 square miles (9.6 km2), all land. The area Fairlea is located on is relatively flat compared to the rest of the state. It borders the city of Lewisburg to the north, and the city of Ronceverte to the south. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there were 1,706 people, 770 households, and 428 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 461.8 people per square mile (178.5/km2). There were 861 housing units at an average density of 233.1/sq mi (90.1/km2). Lewisburg is a city in Greenbrier County, West Virginia, United States. The population was 3,930 at the 2020 census. It is the county seat of Greenbrier County. Geography Lewisburg is located approximately one mile north of the Greenbrier River. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of , of which is land and is water. Much of it is within the karst belt and a sinkhole is gated over at an intersection. It is part of the Davis Spring subwatershed. Lewisburg is part of the Southern West Virginia region. Greenbrier County () is a county in the U.S. state of West Virginia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 32,977. Its county seat is Lewisburg. The county was formed in 1778 from Botetourt and Montgomery counties in Virginia. History Prior to the arrival of European-American settlers around 1740, Greenbrier County, like most of West Virginia, was used as a hunting ground by the Shawnee and Cherokee nations. They called this land ''Can-tuc-kee''. Shawnee leaders, including Pucksinwah and later his son Tecumseh, were alarmed by the arrival of the European settlers, who by 1771 had set up extensive trade in the area. State Fair Of West Virginia
The State Fair of West Virginia is an annual state fair for West Virginia, United States. It is held annually in mid-August on the State Fairgrounds in Lewisburg. The 2023 State Fair is scheduled for August 10-19, 2023. The State Fairgrounds consists of a large open park for carnivals and exhibition, grandstands, and several exhibition buildings. Free parking is provided adjacent to the fairgrounds.
