Fairfield (Croydon Ward)
Fairfield is a ward in the London Borough of Croydon, covering most of the Croydon area of London in the United Kingdom. The ward currently forms part of the Croydon Central parliamentary constituency, except for a small area near West Croydon station which is part of the Croydon North constituency. The population of the ward at the 2011 Census was 16,569. The ward returns three councillors every four years. At the 2006 Croydon Council election, David Fitze, Vidhi Mohan and Sue Winborn were elected to the council. All of them stood as Conservative Party candidates. The turnout in the ward was similar to others in the area. Fairfield contains Croydon town centre, with its retail and office core. Until 2018, it also contained Park Hill and the Whitgift Estate to the east which is mostly 20th century housing bordering Lloyd Park. The London Borough of Croydon () is a London borough in south London, part of Outer London. It covers an area of . It is the southernmost borough of London. Val Shawcross
Valerie Shawcross is a British politician who served as Deputy Mayor of London for Transport from 2016 to 2018. A member of the Labour Co-operative parties, she was Member of the London Assembly for Lambeth and Southwark from 2000 to 2016. Shawcross was a Member of Croydon London Borough Council from 1994 to 2000, and served as Leader of the Council from 1997 to 2000. She unsuccessfully stood, as the Labour candidate, to become Mayor of Croydon in 2022. In the 2022 Croydon London Borough Council election, on 5 May 2022, all 70 members of Croydon London Borough Council, and the Mayor of Croydon, were up for election. The 2018 Croydon Council election took place on 3 May 2018 to elect members of Croydon Council in England. This was on the same day as other London local elections. This election was the first fought on new ward boundaries in Croydon. The total number of seats remains the same, however the number of wards has increased by four, from 24 to 28. Campaign The campaign officially began on 27 March 2018. The Conservative Party released their manifesto first, on 2 April, entitled "A Council that's on your side". The manifesto included policies such as planning committee reform, an immediate pause on the council's building company, Brick by Brick, and active Fly-Tip patrols. 2002 Croydon London Borough Council Election
Elections to Croydon Council in London, England were held on 4 May 2002. The whole council was up for election for the first time since the 1998 election. The Labour Party managed to keep control of the council which it had done since 1994 when it took power away from the Conservative Party. This year Labour held Croydon with a smaller majority, only clinging onto power through a tiny number of votes in its marginal wards - one councillor won by just eight votes. 37 Labour councillors, 32 Conservative councillors and 1 Liberal Democrat councillor were elected, maintaining Labour control of the Council.
