Peter Bowness, Baron Bowness
Peter Spencer Bowness, Baron Bowness, (born 19 May 1943) is a British politician, solicitor, and life peer. Since 1996, he has been a member of the House of Lords. Early life Bowness was born on 19 May 1943. He was educated at Whitgift School, an all-boys independent school in South Croydon, London. He graduated from the University of Law, and began work as a solicitor in 1966. Legal career Bowness is a qualified solicitor and notary public. From 1970 to 2002, he was a partner at Weightman Sadler Solicitors in Purley, London Borough of Croydon. From 2002 to 2011, he was a consultant to Streeter Marshall Solicitors (the successor to the now merged Weightman Sadler Solicitors). Since then, he has not practised as a solicitor or notary public. Croham was a ward in the London Borough of Croydon, London in the United Kingdom, covering part of the Croham Hurst and South Croydon. The ward returned three councillors every four years to Croydon Council. David Richard Evans (born February 1961) is a British political official who has served as General Secretary of the Labour Party, general secretary of the Labour Party since 25 September 2021, having acted as general secretary since 26 May 2020. David Congdon
David Leonard Congdon (born 16 October 1949) is a former British Conservative Party politician. He was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Croydon North East, South London from 1992 to 1997. Political career Congdon had served as a councillor for many years and served as Deputy Leader of Croydon Council. He was first elected to the House of Commons at the 1992 general selection, succeeding the outgoing speaker Bernard Weatherill who was retiring from the Commons. The Croydon seats were reorganised ahead of the 1997 general election, with the loss of one seat. Congdon competed against Sir Paul Beresford, then-MP for Croydon Central, for the Conservative Party nomination for the new merged seat and won.
