''Laissez-faire'' ( ; from french: laissez faire , ) is an economic system in which transactions between private groups of people are free from any form of economic interventionism (such as subsidies) deriving from special interest groups. As a system of thought, ''laissez-faire'' rests on the following axioms: "the individual is the basic unit in society, i.e. the standard of measurement in social calculus; the individual has a natural right to freedom; and the physical order of nature is a harmonious and self-regulating system." Laissez Faire Books (LFB) was an online bookseller originally based in New York City when it first opened in 1972. From 1982 until 2007, Laissez Faire Books operated as a division of two separate non-profit corporations, the Center for Independent Thought from 1982 to 2004, and the Center for Libertarian Thought from 2005 to 2007. In November 2007, the bookstore's ownership was transferred to the International Society for Individual Liberty. In March 2011, Agora Financial acquired Laissez Faire Books, but changed its purpose. Maker Faire is a convention of do it yourself aka-DIY enthusiasts started by ''Make'' magazine in 2006. Participants come from a wide variety of interests, such as robotics, 3D printing, computers, arts and crafts, and hacker culture. Heloise And The Savoir Faire
Heloise and the Savoir Faire are an American punk outfit based in Brooklyn, New York, United States. Fronted by Heloise Williams (ex-viperHouse songwriter, and lead vocalist), the band's live lineup was originally composed of Williams singing over a pre-recorded track and was accompanied by the dance stylings of Joe "Juge" Shepard and Sara Sweet Rabidoux. In the summer of 2004, Heloise began experimenting with a backup band on a few songs. How Weird Street Faire
The How Weird Street Faire is an outdoor street fair held each year in San Francisco, occupying several blocks of Howard Street and the surrounding area, in the SoMa neighborhood. The event has been held yearly since 2000, and is currently centered at the intersection of Howard and Second Streets. The How Weird Street Faire claims to be the longest-running electronic music street festival in North America, showcasing diverse forms of dance music including live electronica, downtempo, breaks, electro, trance, house, techno, dubstep, drum & bass, dub, and world beat. ''Science Faire'' is a compilation album by indie pop Elephant 6 group The Apples in Stereo. The album consists of two EPs and various singles that were released from 1993 to 1995, leading up to the production of ''Fun Trick Noisemaker''. All of the selections were recorded the summers of 1993 and 1994 and appear on the compilation in the order they were recorded. Robert Schneider, front man of The Apples in Stereo, has said that the song "Too Much Now" will be included on a future re-release of ''Science Faire''. The song was the first by the band ever to be released, included on the 1993 cassette compilation ''The Horizon Center''. Chris Parfitt, who wrote the song, sings lead vocals on the track. Vintage Faire Mall is a shopping mall located in Modesto, California, USA. It is owned and operated by Macerich and is adjacent to State Route 99. The mall is a hub for StanRTA bus service. Virginia Brown Faire (born Virginia Cecelia Labuna; June 26, 1904 – June 30, 1980) was an American silent film actress, appearing in dramatic films and, later, in sound westerns. Early years Virginia Cecelia Labuna was born in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Joseph Labuna and Martha Delsand. Other sources have her last name as La Buna. The West Coast Computer Faire was an annual computer industry conference and exposition most often associated with San Francisco, its first and most frequent venue. The first fair was held in 1977 and was organized by Jim Warren (computer specialist), Jim Warren and Bob Reiling. At the time, it was the biggest computer show in the world, intended to popularize the personal computer in the home. The West Coast PC Faire was formed to provide a more specialized show. However, Apple Inc. stopped exhibiting at the West Coast Computer Faire, refusing to exhibit at any show other than COMDEX that also had PC-based exhibits. In 1983, Warren sold the rights to the Faire for US$3 million to Prentice Hall, who later sold it to Sheldon Adelson, the owner of Interface Group and COMDEX.
