Fair Park Coliseum (Dallas)
Fair Park Coliseum is an 8,513-seat multi-purpose arena in Dallas, Texas (USA) on the Fair Park grounds. It was home to the Dallas Black Hawks ice hockey team and Dallas Chaparrals basketball team. It was built in 1955. It was also home to the new ABA's Dallas Generals for the 2009–2010 season before the franchise folded. The State Fair Coliseum was the home of the Rodeo Cowboys Association’s inaugural National Finals Rodeo in 1959, and remained there through 1961. The Dallas Tornado soccer club hosted the four-team regionals of the 1975 NASL Indoor tournament. During the 1984 Dallas Grand Prix Formula One race held at Fair Park, the Coliseum doubled as the pit paddock for the Formula One teams in the Grand Prix. Dallas Black Hawks
The Dallas Black Hawks were a minor-league professional ice hockey team in Dallas, in the U.S. state of Texas. It was a member of the Central Hockey League and played home games at State Fair Coliseum. Origins and relocation to Dallas The Black Hawks team was originally based in St. Louis, Missouri, where it was known as the Braves from 1963 to 1967. However, the expansion of the National Hockey League into St. Louis resulted in the relocation of the team to Dallas for the 1967–68 season. The Black Hawks remained in Dallas until ceasing operations following the 1981–82 CHL season. During that time, they won four Adams Cup championships. 1984 Dallas Grand Prix
The 1984 Dallas Grand Prix was a Formula One motor race held on July 8, 1984 at Fair Park in Dallas, Texas. It was the only running of the Dallas Grand Prix as a Formula One race, and the ninth race of the 1984 Formula One World Championship. The 67-lap race was held in very hot weather on a disintegrating track, and was won by Finnish driver Keke Rosberg, driving a Williams-Honda, with Frenchman René Arnoux second in a Ferrari and Italian Elio de Angelis third in a Lotus-Renault. Englishman Nigel Mansell took pole position in the other Lotus-Renault and led the first half of the race, before suffering a gearbox failure at the very end and collapsing from exhaustion while trying to push his car over the finish line. 1975 NASL Indoor Tournament
In early 1975, the North American Soccer League hosted its first league-wide indoor soccer tournament over the course of seven weeks. All but four NASL teams participated. Overview Though the Dallas Tornado had won the NASL's 1971 Hoc-Soc Tournament and the Atlanta Apollos staged two league sanctioned pilot matches at the Omni in 1973, the birth of the modern game in North America can be traced to 1974, when three indoor exhibitions against the touring Soviet Red Army of Moscow club took place. The games were played on a field the size of a hockey rink, with goals 4 feet high by 16 feet wide. Much like hockey, matches were played in three 20 minute periods, allowed free substitution, and featured six man sides (five field players and a goalkeeper). The National Finals Rodeo (NFR) is the premier rodeo event by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA). The NFR showcases the talents of the PRCA's top 15 money-winners in the season for each event. The NFR is held each year in the first full week of December, at the Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in Paradise, Nevada, United States.
