''Fair Ain't Fair'' is Tim Fite's second studio album released on ANTI- Records. As with '' Gone Ain't Gone'', Fite created this album with a mixture of real instrumentation and sampling, resulting in a sound composed of rock, folk and hip hop elements. Tim Fite
Timothy Sullivan, also known as Tim Fite is an American musician, singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, living and working in Brooklyn. His past releases have run the gamut from indie to alternative to country to hip hop. Life and career Fite was born and raised in rural New Jersey, where he developed a certain fascination with guns and social value systems that can be found in his music, art and the illustrated stories he also creates. Fite is known for using samples from long-forgotten records to amplify his mixed-genre approach to music. On his Anti- Records debut '' Gone Ain't Gone'' he set a self-imposed limit of using only samples from records bought for less than a dollar. During the early 2000s, Fite was one half of hip hop duo Little-T and One Track Mike, who are mostly remembered for their only hit "Shaniqua", which was popular on music channels such as MTV. The Hold Steady
The Hold Steady is an American rock band originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, now based in Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2003. The band consists of Craig Finn (vocals, guitar), Tad Kubler (guitar), Galen Polivka (bass), Bobby Drake (drums), Franz Nicolay (keyboards) and Steve Selvidge (guitar). Noted for their "lyrically dense storytelling," and classic rock influences, the band's narrative-based songs frequently address themes such as drug addiction, religion and redemption, and often feature recurring characters based within the city of Minneapolis. Formed four years following the break-up of Finn and Kubler's former band, Lifter Puller, The Hold Steady released the debut album ''Almost Killed Me'' in 2004. Constantines
Constantines is an indie rock band from Guelph, Ontario, Canada. History Constantines was formed in 1999 by vocalist and guitarist Bryan Webb, drummer Doug MacGregor and guitarist Paul Bright, all of whom had played together in the emo band Shoulder from 1994 to 1997; with the addition of bassist Dallas Wehrle. Bright was asked to leave early on and was replaced by Steve Lambke. Their style has been described as "art-punk", and they have been compared to bands like The Clash, Fugazi, Bruce Springsteen, The Replacements, and Nick Cave. The name of the band is taken from an episode of ''Coast to Coast with Art Bell'', in which Bell was playing recordings of ghost voices in static, and one of the ghosts' names was Constantine. Picastro is a Canadian slowcore and rock music band based in Toronto, Ontario. The band is fronted by guitarist/vocalist Liz Hysen, and currently includes cellist Nick Storring, synth and guitarist Matthew Ramolo (Khora) and drummer Germaine Liu. Past members included Evan Clarke, Rachel McBride, Owen Pallett, Stephanie Vittas, Kurt Newman, Alex McLeod and Zak Hanna. History Picastro formed in 1998 in Toronto. Needle (band)
Needle (stylized as eedle'') is an American industrial rock band formed in Philadelphia in 1995. The group's musical style primarily consists of aggressive electronic dance music. eedlehas seen extraordinary popularity in the Philadelphia and New York City underground music scenes with original distribution through Sony Music via Ruffhouse Records' Contract Records sub-label. The band was originally founded by high school mates Jeffrey D. Erb and Lee Daniels after the dissolution of their former band Sri Lanka (band). Erb and Daniels have performed all of the music on their releases, with Erb playing bass guitar, writing rhythm tracks, keyboards and performing lead vocals. My Latest Novel are a Scottish indie band, from Greenock & Gourock. The band are signed to Bella Union records and released two albums. Background A five piece, (consisting of Chris Deveney, Gary Deveney, Paul McGeachy Laura McFarlane and Ryan King), My Latest Novel are from the small town of Greenock, near Glasgow in Scotland. They augment the traditional rock line up of guitars, drums, bass and keyboards, with the use of violins, xylophones, samples and undulating percussion, as well as multi-part vocals. The band has toured the UK with Arab Strap, Low, British Sea Power and Joanna Newsom as well as opening for the Pixies at Meadowbank Stadium in Edinburgh.
