"Fading Away" is a song by the Florida-based dance-pop group Will to Power. It appears on their 1988 self-titled debut album and was released as a single in early 1989. The song reached #65 on the US pop chart in February 1989 and #84 on the UK Singles chart in March of that year. The song was more successful on dance charts in the US, reaching #2 on the ''Billboard'' Hot Dance Singles Sales chart and spending two weeks at top the ''Billboard'' Hot Dance Club Play chart. Will To Power (band)
Will to Power is an American dance-pop group that originated in South Florida in the mid-1980s founded by Miami producer Bob Rosenberg. The group recorded a number of hit singles on the ''Billboard'' dance and pop charts in the late 1980s and early 1990s, most notably " Baby, I Love Your Way/Freebird Medley", a medley of 1970s hits by Peter Frampton and Lynyrd Skynyrd that reached the top of the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart in December 1988. The group has also two number one singles on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play, "Say It's Gonna Rain" and " Fading Away", and continues to create music into the 21st century and are currently performing live (Bob Rosenberg and Elin Michaels). Joel Carver Whitburn (November 29, 1939 – June 14, 2022) was an American author and music historian, responsible for setting up the Record Research, Inc. series of books on record chart placings. In the issue dated March 16, 1985, '' Billboard'' magazine debuted its first chart devoted exclusively to 12-inch Singles Sales. The 50-position weekly ranking joined ''Billboard''s established Club Songs chart, reduced to the same 50 positions, both under the title Hot Dance/Disco. A coupling from MCA Records' ''Beverly Hills Cop'' soundtrack, Patti LaBelle's " New Attitude" and Harold Faltermeyer's "Axel F", held the No. 1 slot for the chart's first week and was also No. 1 for the second consecutive week on the most played dance/disco chart. On June 20, 1992, the chart was renamed Maxi-Singles Sales, then simply Dance Singles Sales on March 1, 2003. Shep Pettibone
Robert "Shep" Pettibone (born 10 July 1959) is an American record producer, remixer, songwriter and club DJ, one of the most prolific of the 1980s. Career Shep Pettibone surfaced after his work with Arthur Baker on Afrika Bambaataa & the Jazzy 5's "Jazzy Sensation" and as an in-house mix engineer for Prelude Records. During his recording career, he launched innovative "mastermixes" for New York's KISS FM. The popularity of these mixes persuaded Prelude Records to release some of them commercially. Pettibone built his brand through his personal approach to remixing tracks, specially crafted for the dancefloor. Acclaimed by DJs worldwide, he was the go-to man to achieve club and chart success. His prowess at production and mixing led him to work with such artists as Madonna and George Michael in the late 1980s during the height of these artists' popularity.
