Marcos Morínigo
Marcos Antonio Morínigo Fleytas (8 October 1848 – 13 July 1901) was a Paraguayan politician who served as President of Paraguay in 1894. He was born in 1848 in Quyquyho (Paraguarí department). In 1881, he was elected for his first term in the Chamber of Deputies, a post he held for more than nine years. In 1887, Morinigo participated in founding the Colorado Party and was elected Vice President of Paraguay in 1890 (alongside President Juan Gualberto González). After González was sacked, he became president on June 8, 1894, until the legal end of the term (November 25, 1894). Morinigo was elected senator in 1895. The National Republican Association – Colorado Party (Spanish: ''Asociación Nacional Republicana – Partido Colorado'', ANR-PC) is a right-wing political party in Paraguay, founded on 11 September 1887, by Bernardino Caballero. The vice president of Paraguay is the person with the second highest position in the executive branch of the Paraguayan government, after the president of Paraguay. The position of vice president was created with the Constitution of 1844, although it was the title given to ex officio members temporarily replacing the elected president in case of death or absence, and was not a position elected alongside the president. The Constitution of 1870 established the position with a permanent character, requiring election alongside the president and assigning to it the presidency of the National Congress and the one of the Senate. The position disappeared between 1940 and 1993, as the Constitutions of 1940 and 1967 abolished it. Only in 1992, with the new National Constitution, the position of vice president was reinstalled within the political institutional scheme of Paraguay. Emilio Aceval
Emilio Aceval Marín (October 16, 1853 – April 15, 1931) was President of Paraguay from 1898 to 1902. He was a member of the Colorado Party. Biography Aceval's parents were Don Leonardo Aceval and Ms Monica Marin. He studied under Fidel Maíz. Upon the outbreak of the war against the Triple Alliance, he joined the Army at age 13 as a child soldier. He was injured at Pirayú and then Ñu Acosta, where he served as a sergeant major. Days later, he was taken prisoner in the battle of Caraguatay. Upon the end of the war, Aceval moved with his relatives to Corrientes and then to Buenos Aires, where he resumed his studies at National Central College. He studied engineering in the postwar period, but had to stop because of a serious illness. After his recovery, he made a long trip through Europe and the United States, returning in 1881, and became a landowner and farmer.
