Face For The Radio
"Face for the Radio" is the fifth single to be released by Dundee band The View, and the last to be released from their debut album ''Hats Off to the Buskers''. It was released in the United Kingdom on 25 June 2007 (see 2007 in British music) on CD and 7" vinyl formats. "Face for the Radio" is entirely acoustic, and is the only acoustic track on the ''Hats Off to the Buskers'' album. The title may refer to a friendly radio DJ known to the band. The song was BBC Radio 1 DJ Edith Bowman's Record of the Week for the week commencing 23 May, the same week in which it entered the C-list in the Radio 1 playlist. It was promoted to the B-list for the week commencing 6 June. The band performed the track on 1 March 2007 at the 2007 Shockwaves NME Awards, on the same night they won the award for "Best Track" with their debut single, "Wasted Little DJs". The View (band)
The View are a Scottish indie rock band. They incorporate various styles such as punk, pop, alternative rock, and folk in their music. They are best known for their 2007 single "Same Jeans" which reached number 3 on the UK Singles Chart. The band have released five studio albums since their platinum selling debut ''Hats Off to the Buskers'', which topped the UK Albums Chart in January 2007 and was nominated for the 2007 Mercury Music Prize. Despite never matching this early success, they enjoy a large fanbase in their native Scotland with albums regularly topping the Scottish Albums Chart. The band also hold a reputation for their live performances with regularly sold-out tours in Scotland. Gramophone Record
A phonograph record (also known as a gramophone record, especially in British English), or simply a record, is an analog sound storage medium in the form of a flat disc with an inscribed, modulated spiral groove. ITunes Store
The iTunes Store is a digital media store operated by Apple Inc. It opened on April 28, 2003, as a result of Steve Jobs' push to open a digital marketplace for music. As of April 2020, iTunes offered 60 million songs, 2.2 million apps, 25,000 TV shows, and 65,000 films. "Wasted Little DJs" is the debut single of Dundee indie band the View, taken from their first album, ''Hats Off to the Buskers'' (2007). Before its physical release on 7 August 2006, the single had reached number 73 on the UK Singles Chart on downloads only before climbing up to number 15 the following week. The ''NME'' Awards is an annual music awards show in the United Kingdom, founded by the music magazine ''NME'' (''New Musical Express''). Edith Eleanor Smith (born January 1974) is a Scottish radio DJ and television presenter. She hosted '' Colin and Edith'', weekday afternoons, weekend breakfast, and ''The Radio 1 Review'' on BBC Radio 1 until 2014 and has presented a variety of music-related television shows and music festivals.
