Fabtek
Fabtek Inc. was a thriving video kit company founded in Bellevue, Washington, United States and started its operations there in 1987. Fabtek's name was derived from the initials of its founder Frank Ballouz (F.A.B.-tek), a former Atari and Nintendo of America executive who later also founded Irem America. Fabtek was known for licensing arcade games mostly from two manufacturers for distribution: Seibu Kaihatsu and TAD Corporation. Around 1990, Fabtek moved to Redmond, WashingtonFront side of Fabtek's '' Raiden'' arcade flyer, released in 1990. and continued its business there until closing its business in 1999. The Fabtek Inc. also worked, alongside Source Research & Development and Montague-Weston, on the "Workboy" a Game Boy accessory that could transform the Game Boy in to a portable workstation, which was planned for a summer 1992 release, but never materialized. Seibu Kaihatsu
was a Japanese manufacturer of arcade games. The company was founded in 1982 at Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan as , but changed to its current name sometime in 1984. It is currently owned by Hitoshi Hamada. One of their earliest arcade hits was the 1989 rail shooter '' Dynamite Duke'', one of the first to combine close combat with long-range shooting. A year later, Seibu Kaihatsu became best known for their 1990 vertical-scrolling shoot 'em up arcade game '' Raiden'', which was successful enough to earn several sequels and spin-offs in its series of titles. In 1991, a development department known as was spun off from Seibu Kaihatsu. During the late '80s, Fabtek bought the rights to internationally distribute Seibu Kaihatsu's arcade titles outside Japan. Cabal (video Game)
is a 1988 arcade shooter video game originally developed by TAD Corporation and published in Japan by Taito, in North America by Fabtek and in Europe by Capcom. In the game, the player controls a commando, viewed from behind, trying to destroy various enemy military bases. The game was innovative for the era, but only a mild success in the arcades, and became better known for its various home conversions. Gameplay ''Cabal'' has one-player and two-player-simultaneous modes of gameplay. Each player assumes the role of an unnamed commando trying to destroy several enemy military bases. Raiden (video Game)
is a 1990 vertically scrolling shooter arcade video game developed by Seibu Kaihatsu and published by Tecmo in Japan. The game's story takes place in the year 2090, when an alien species known as the Crystals invaded Earth. Players assume the roles of the Vanquish Crystal Defense pilot duo, taking control of two state of the art Fighting Thunders aircraft to defeat the Crystals and save the Earth. The game was conceived after ''Dynamite Duke'', Seibu Kaihatsu's prior title, failed to sell as well as expected. ''Toki'' is a run and gun platform game released in arcades in Japan in 1989 by TAD Corporation. It was published in North America by Fabtek. Designed by Akira Sakuma, the game has tongue-in-cheek humor mixed with the action. The player controls an enchanted ape who must battle hordes of jungle monsters with energy balls from his mouth. The ultimate goal is to destroy the evil wizard who cast a spell on the title protagonist; thereby transforming him from an ape back into a human, and rescuing the kidnapped princess. Players pilot their space fighter through eight stages of enemy space fleets and bosses. Enemies include small space fighters, space cruisers, space frigates, and entire space installations. ''Raiden Fighters Jet'' retains the same game mechanics as its predecessors, while introducing new ones in a departure from the previous games. Gameplay The Hybrid Attack from ''Raiden Fighters 2'' returns in this game. This special attack has been given a graphical facelift, but otherwise remains the same functionally. A mechanic introduced in this game gauges stage progression on player performance. TAD Corporation
was a Japanese manufacturer of video arcade games that was founded and headquartered in Mitaka-shi, Tokyo, Japan. It was founded by former employees of the company Data East and was named after its founder and owner name Tadashi "TAD" Yokoyama. They are best known for their first video arcade game, the 1988 shooting gallery-type ''Cabal'', as well as their second one, the 1989 run 'n' gun-style platformer '' Toki'' (known in Japan as ''JuJu Densetsu'').
