Fabricio Benítez
Fabricio Javier Benítez Piriz (born 11 June 1975) is a former Guatemalan football midfielder and manager. He is currently the manager for Liga Nacional club Mixco. Of Uruguayan descent, he is the son of Raul Washington Benitez Touzet, a famous Uruguayan player who played in the decade of the 70's and 80's in Guatemala, and son of Teresita Gladyz Piriz Nuñes, also Uruguayan. He has a younger sister, Jessica Benitez, and an older brother, Eduardo Benitez. He made his debut as a striker in C.D Panzos in 1990 Club career Benítez has played for Cobán Imperial, Marquense and Antigua at Guatemala's highest level before joining Suchitepéquez in 2007. He was put on the ''Suchi'' transfer list in May 2010. 1998 CONCACAF Gold Cup
The 1998 CONCACAF Gold Cup was the fourth edition of the Gold Cup, the soccer championship of North America, Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF). The tournament was once again held in the United States, in Los Angeles, Miami, and Oakland. The format of the tournament changed from 1996: it was expanded to ten teams, with four in Group A and three each in Groups B and C. The top team in each group, plus the second place in Group A would advance to the semifinals. Brazil was invited again, and brought their senior team this time. Jamaica, getting ready for the 1998 World Cup, pulled the stunner of the first round. They did not originally qualify for the tournament, but Canada withdrew, granting them a spot. Honduras National Football Team
The Honduras national football team ( es, Selección de fútbol de Honduras) represents Honduras in men's international football. The team is governed by the Federación Nacional Autónoma de Fútbol de Honduras (FENAFUTH). They are nicknamed ''Los Catrachos'', ''La Bicolor,'' or ''La H''. Honduras has qualified for the World Cup three times, in 1982, 2010, and 2014, and never advanced beyond the group stage. 2002 CONCACAF Gold Cup
The 2002 CONCACAF Gold Cup was the sixth edition of the Gold Cup, the soccer championship of North America, Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF). The tournament was once again held in the United States, in Miami and Pasadena. The format of the tournament stayed the same as in 2000: twelve teams were split into four groups of three. The top two teams in each group would advance to the quarterfinals. Ecuador and South Korea were invited from outside CONCACAF. Canada, who rode the coin toss all the way to winning the 2000 Cup, needed luck once again, as all games in Group D ended with a 2-0 result. Lots were drawn, with Canada and Haiti moving on to the next round; Ecuador did not. But the Canadian team's luck ran dry in the semifinals, as the U.S. beat them on penalties after tying 0-0.
