From November 2001 to November 2018, the London nightclub fabric ran a monthly mix compilation series. Mixed by a variety of emerging and established DJs, the two series were entitled ''fabric'' and ''FABRICLIVE'' respectively. The compilation mixes were released independently by fabric on an alternating monthly basis. In May 2018, fabric announced that the ''fabric'' series would end "in its current form" with its 100th instalment; in October 2018, fabric revealed the final ''fabric'' compilation would be a triple-disc set, mixed by two of the club's residents— Craig Richards and Terry Francis—as well as its founder, Keith Reilly. In August 2018, the club announced that the ''FABRICLIVE'' series would also end with its 100th instalment, and would be mixed by Kode 9—founder of the celebrated underground electronic music label, Hyperdub—and Burial—a pioneering UK dubstep producer. High Contrast
Lincoln Barrett (born 18 September 1979), better known by the stage name High Contrast, is a Welsh electronic music producer, DJ and record producer. He produces drum and bass music, and his 2009 album ''Confidential'' reached BPI gold certification (100,000 units sold in the UK). Career Early work Barrett was born in Penarth, near Cardiff, and grew up more interested in films and film soundtracks than rock or pop music; he cites Wendy Carlos's ''A Clockwork Orange'' soundtrack album and the Vangelis soundtrack for ''Blade Runner'' as defining musical influences. Whilst studying film making in Newport, he heard J Majik's ''Arabian Nights'' which turned the then 17-year-old Barrett on to drum and bass music. Total Science
Total Science is the stage name of drum and bass producers Jason Greenhalgh and Paul Smith. The pair first met in 1987, both living on Blackbird Leys estate in Oxford, England and brought together through a mutual love of hip hop. Distracted by the arrival of hardcore in the early nineties, the pair's record collecting was quickly followed by DJing, and eventually production. Greenhalgh launched his career under the moniker Q Project with "Freestyle Fanatic" in 1991. In 1994, the pair started recording together under the name Funky Technicians, with "You Gotta Believe" the first in a series of records which pushed the label away from the darkside movement and toward labels like Lucky Spin, Basement, and Good Looking. After six years of recording singles for others, the pair established the CIA label in the closing months of 1997 with the help of Brillo from Timeless Recordings. Ram Records (UK)
RAM Records is an independent record label established in 1992 by Andy C with the help of his friend Ant Miles. It specialises in drum and bass. The label and business is run by Andy C and business partner Scott Bourne (Red One). Ram Records is known for its label activities, the music it releases, and the artists it has signed over the years. Moving Fusion's Turbulence was instrumental in moving RAM forward in the early 2000s and was the number one voted-for track in drum and bass at the Mercury Music Prize in 2000. As well as Ram's musical output, the label is also known for its club nights, the most famous of which started at the London nightclub 'The End', and lasted 11 years until the club's closure in December 2008. Klute (artist)
Klute is the primary recording alias of Tom Withers, a drum and bass producer and DJ from Ipswich, UK. He is also the drummer, vocalist and songwriter of the English hardcore band The Stupids. Klute first turned to electronic production in the early 1990s, experimenting with techno before turning to drum and bass. He released two 12" singles under the 'Override' alias in 1995 and 1996, as well as appearing on Ninja Tune compilations. In 1997 he released the 12" single ''Deep Control'' under the alias 'The Spectre'. Adam Fenton (born 8 February 1972) is an English record producer and DJ who has worked across various genres. He is also the co-founder of the drum and bass label Breakbeat Kaos along with DJ Fresh. He found initial success with the 1990s drum and bass singles "Circles", "Metropolis" / "Mother Earth", and "F-Jam", before releasing his debut studio album ''Colours'' in 1997. In 2001, he transitioned into hip hop music, producing the album '' Kaos: The Anti-Acoustic Warfare'', featuring collaborations with LL Cool J, Redman and De La Soul. He later released a remix album, ''Drum and Bass Warfare'', and collaborated with DJ Fresh. Un-Cut were a British group from Manchester, England, composed of Darren Lewis and Iyiola Babalola from the music production duo Future Cut, and vocalist Jenna Gibbons (Jenna G).
