Fabio Pizzolato (born 16 March 1975) is a retired Italian pole vaulter. Biography He finished ninth at the 2003 Summer Universiade, and competed at the 1997 World Indoor Championships, the 1997 World Championships and the 2002 European Championships without reaching the final. He became Italian champion in 1997 and 2003 and Italian indoor champion in 1998. His personal best jump was 5.75 metres, achieved in July 1997 in Milan. He is the husband of the former pole vaulter Maria Carla Bresciani. The Italian Athletics Championships ( it, Campionati italiani assoluti di atletica leggera) are the national championships in athletics, organised every year by the Federazione Italiana di Atletica Leggera. The first edition, four races only, was held in 1906 at Arena Civica in Milan, just after the foundation of the Federazione Podistica Italiana and with the organization of ''La Gazzetta dello Sport''. Since then, 110 editions were held with the only exceptions of the years 1915-1918 and 1944. During 1945, only athletes of Northern Italy could participate but FIDAL considered this edition as an official one. To the running races, in 1913 the field events were added. Maria Carla Bresciani (born 16 July 1973) is a former Italian female pole vaulter who won nine national championships at individual senior level from 1995 to 2004. Biography In the early 1990s, Bresciani was a pioneer of the specialty of the pole vault that was born at the female level in those years throughout the world. Her best result on the international senior level was the final reached in the pole vault at the 1997 IAAF World Indoor Championships held in Paris. She is the wife of the former pole vaulter Fabio Pizzolato. Athletics is a group of sporting events that involves competitive running, jumping, throwing, and walking. The most common types of athletics competitions are track and field, road running, cross country running, and racewalking. The 6th World Championships in Athletics, under the auspices of the International Amateur Athletic Federation, were held at the Olympic Stadium, Athens, Greece between August 1 and August 10, 1997. In this event participated 1882 athletes from 198 participant nations.
