Fabian Roosenbrand
Fabian Roosenbrand (born 18 December 1988 in Almelo) is a Dutch professional darts player, who currently resides in Enschede. He is not a full-time professional player, and currently makes his living as a painter. Career He won two Open events in his native country during 2007 - the Mid-Netherlands Open and the North-West Netherlands Open, but made his mark on the scene by beating favourite and number two seed Gary Anderson in the first round of the 2008 BDO World Darts Championship. Roosenbrand was making his debut on television and at the World Championship. It was also a major upset as Anderson had been widely tipped to take the title following his victories at the 2007 International Darts League and 2007 World Darts Trophy - tournaments which had featured players from both the BDO and PDC. Almelo
Almelo () is a municipality and a city in the eastern Netherlands. The main population centres in the town are Aadorp, Almelo, Mariaparochie, and Bornerbroek. Almelo has about 72,000 inhabitants in the middle of the rolling countryside of Twente, with the industrial centres of Enschede and Hengelo as close neighbours but also with tourist towns like Ootmarsum, Delden and Markelo only a bicycle ride away. 2007 World Darts Trophy
The 2007 Bullit World Darts Trophy was the sixth and last edition of the World Darts Trophy, a professional darts tournament held at the De Vechtsebanen in Utrecht, the Netherlands, run by the British Darts Organisation and the World Darts Federation. It had a playing format comparable with both World Championships ( BDO and PDC) and features the majority of top ranked players from both organisations. The event featured the top 12 ranked players from the PDC and BDO, seven world champions (including both incumbents) and 23 world title winners – making it possibly the strongest field assembled since the split in 1992/93. Simon Whitlock
Simon Whitlock (born 3 March 1969) is an Australian professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) tournaments, having also played in the British Darts Organisation (BDO) between 2004 and 2009. He uses the nickname The Wizard for his matches. His walk-on music is "Down Under" by Men at Work. His greatest achievements to date are winning the 2012 European Championship and 2022 World Cup of Darts for Australia with Damon Heta. Whitlock has also finished runner-up at the 2008 BDO World Darts Championship and the 2010 PDC World Darts Championship. The Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) is a professional darts organisation in the United Kingdom, established in 1992 when a group of leading players split from the British Darts Organisation (BDO) to form what was initially called the World Darts Council (WDC). The 2007 Tropicana International Darts League was a darts tournament held at the Triavium in Nijmegen, Netherlands from May 4–12. The tournament was sponsored by Tropicana — a Dutch-based soft drink manufacturer. Raymond van Barneveld entered the tournament as three-times and defending champion. Darts history was made when the tournament became the first televised event to witness two nine dart finishes.
