Faber (EP)
Faber is the self-titled EP by Canadian pop-punk band Faber Drive, released prior to their name change. Released in limited quantities, it is packaged in a black and white cardsleeve and features three tracks. The first two were eventually re-released on their debut album ''Seven Second Surgery'' in 2007. The third track, Cementhead, is only available on this release. Faber Drive
Faber Drive is a four-piece Juno Award-nominated Canadian pop punk band from Mission, British Columbia, formed in 2004. The band consists of lead vocalist Dave Faber, lead guitarist Jordan Pritchett, bass guitarist Jeremy "Krikit" Liddle and drummer Seamus O'Neill. Their biggest influences are U2, The Police, Def Leppard, Jimmy Eat World, Stryper and Winger. They have toured with bands such as Hedley, Stereos, Marianas Trench, Simple Plan and Metro Station. Biography In 2005, the band released a limited-edition three-song EP under the band name 'Faber' but, due to legal issues with a large corporation of the same name, its name was changed to Faber Drive. Also in 2005, Faber Drive won Fox Seeds, the band competition of Vancouver radio station CFOX-FM. They were then discovered by Chad Kroeger of Nickelback, who signed the band to his 604 Records label. 604 Records (stylized as VIOIV Records) is a music production company. It is named after area code 604 of the Lower Mainland, where the company's offices are located. History The company was co-founded by Nickelback lead singer Chad Kroeger and attorney Jonathan Simkin, founder of Simkin Artist Management, in 2001, and launched in 2002. Their records are distributed in Canada by Universal Music Group. Simkin launched the companion label Light Organ Records in 2010 to release music by indie rock bands who he felt did not fit with 604's image. In 2014, 604 Records relocated to a larger office and opened 604 Studios, a multimedia production facility featuring two recording studios, soundstage and in-house production team. David Robert Madison Genn is a Canadian musician, producer, and songwriter. He is a member of the rock group 54-40, and a former member of the Matthew Good Band. Early life Genn was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, on 2 March 1969. He is the son of artist G Robert Genn. Career Dead Surf Kiss (DSK) Dave Genn was a member of Vancouver psychedelic, punk, hard rock, band Dead Surf Kiss, named after their love of The Grateful Dead, Surf music, and KISS. They had several releases, the first of which was titled "Narcotic Nevada" via Vancouver label "Onslot Music" in 1991. The album was produced by Dave Ogilvie (Skinny Puppy) and Dan Tanna. "Onslot Music" later signed a sub-distro deal in the USA with BMG Music. They played shows at Vancouver's Town Pump Cabaret.
