FNSM 14
The National Federation of Maritime Unions (french: Fédération nationale des syndicats maritimes, FNSM) is a trade union representing sailors in France. The union was founded in 1905, and affiliated to the General Confederation of Labour (CGT). In 1921, the left wing of the union split away to join the United General Confederation of Labour (CGTU), while in 1926, another split formed The Sea Labourers union. This became the Autonomous Federation of Sea Workers, then rejoined the FNSM in 1929. Its former leader, Auguste Durand, became general secretary of the FNSM in 1931. The CGTU union rejoined the FNSM later in the decade, taking membership from 13,000 to a claimed 38,000. The union was banned during World War II, but reformed after the war, and in 1946 had 50,000 members. A trade union (labor union in American English), often simply referred to as a union, is an organization of workers intent on "maintaining or improving the conditions of their employment", ch. General Confederation Of Labour (France)
The General Confederation of Labour (french: Confédération Générale du Travail, CGT) is a national trade union center, founded in 1895 in the city of Limoges. It is the first of the five major French confederations of trade unions. It is the largest in terms of votes (32.1% at the 2002 professional election, 34.0% in the 2008 election), and second largest in terms of membership numbers. Its membership decreased to 650,000 members in 1995–96 (it had more than doubled when François Mitterrand was elected president in 1981), before increasing today to between 700,000 and 720,000 members, slightly fewer than the Confédération Française Démocratique du Travail (CFDT). Workers' Force
The General Confederation of Labor - Workers' Force (french: Confédération Générale du Travail - Force Ouvrière, or simply , FO), is one of the five major union confederations in France. In terms of following, it is the third behind the CGT and the CFDT. Force Ouvrière was founded in 1948 by former members of the General Confederation of Labor (CGT) who denounced the dominance of the French Communist Party over that federation. FO is a member of the European Trade Union Confederation. Its leader is Pascal Pavageau since April 2018. André Fressinet
André Marius Fressinet (29 February 1904 – 7 September 2004) was a French trade union leader. Biography Born in Dieulefit, Fressinet began work at the age of 13 and joined the Union of Skins and Hides in Romans-sur-Isère, which was affiliated to the General Confederation of Labour (CGT). He also took part in demonstrations against World War I, but after the war, he completed his military service in the French Navy. After military service, Fressinet returned to work, and joined the United General Confederation of Labour (CGTU), and the Communist Youth. In 1929, he moved to Marseille, and eventually found work in the merchant navy. He travelled regularly to East Asia, and was suspected by the French government of supporting the communist movement in French Indochina. He was sacked, but found work with other companies. Trade involves the transfer of goods and services from one person or entity to another, often in exchange for money. Economists refer to a system or network that allows trade as a market. An early form of trade, barter, saw the direct exchange of goods and services for other goods and services, i.e. trading things without the use of money. Modern traders generally negotiate through a medium of exchange, such as money. As a result, buying can be separated from selling, or earning.
