FK Pohronie
FK Pohronie is a Slovak football team, based in the town of Žiar nad Hronom. The club currently competes in 2. Liga. The 2019/20 season was the first time in the club's history that the team played in Fortuna Liga, the highest level of the Slovak football league system. The club avoided relegation that season, and continued in the top division for the 2020/21 season. In the 2021/22 season the team was relegated. Mestský štadión Žiar nad Hronom is a multi-use stadium in Žiar nad Hronom, Slovakia. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Fortuna liga team FK Pohronie. The stadium holds 2,309 people. In 1989 and 1999 it has hosted the final match of Slovak Cup. Reconstruction In 2016 began reconstruction of the stadium. Žiar nad Hronom (slang: Žiar, german: link=no, Heiligenkreuz, hu, Garamszentkereszt; until 1920 ''Svätý Kríž'' and until 1955 ''Svätý Kríž nad Hronom'') is a city in Banská Bystrica Region, Slovakia. Name development The name of the settlement has gone through multiple developments. Prior to 1237, the settlement was known as a ''place with a toll station''. In 1237, first name of the settlmenet emerges, as a combination of Latin and Hungarian, with the town called ''Cristur'' (later ''Kerestúr''), which translates to ''The Cross of the Lord''. Back then, the settlement was split between the dominions of the Šášov castle and the Benedictine Abbey of Hronský Beňadik. The 2000–01 Slovak Cup was the 32nd season of Slovakia's annual knock-out cup competition and the eighth since the independence of Slovakia. Adam Nemec (; born 2 September 1985) is a Slovak professional footballer who plays as a forward for Liga I side FC Voluntari. In his career, he has played in seven different countries but mostly for teams in Germany and Romania. During 13 years of international career, he won 43 caps and scored 13 goals. Milan Nemec (born 14 January 1959) is a former Slovak football player and most recently a manager of Železiarne Podbrezová U19 team. He played for Czechoslovakia, for which he played 2 times. Milan Škriniar (born 11 February 1995) is a Slovak professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Serie A club Inter Milan and captains the Slovakia national team.
