FK Spartaks Jūrmala
FK Spartaks is a Latvian football club that is based in Sloka, Jūrmala. In 2012, they finished 3rd in the Latvian First League championship and after winning the play-offs against JFK Olimps were promoted to the Latvian Higher League. The club plays its home matches at the Sloka Stadium with capacity of 2,500 people. History FK Spartaks Jūrmala were founded at the start of 2007 as participants of the third tier of Latvian football. Jurijs Popkovs
Jurijs Popkovs (born 6 July 1961) is a Latvian football manager and former player. He last managed the Latvian Higher League club FK Spartaks Jūrmala. Playing career Jurijs Popkovs was born in Kiev, Ukraine. His first professional club was Dynamo Minsk which he joined in 1980. In four years which he stayed with Dynamo he made only one appearance in the Soviet Top League. In 1984 Popkovs joined FK Daugava Rīga which under the management of Jānis Skredelis was then on the up-rise. With Daugava Popkovs made 309 appearances until 1991 scoring 33 goals. He rarely missed a game for Daugava and together with Aleksandr Kanischev and Genādijs Šitiks he formed the strong midfield on the Daugava squad. The 2014 Latvian Higher League was the 23rd season of top-tier football in Latvia. FK Ventspils are the defending champions. The season started on 21 March 2014. Initially, Skonto Riga and Daugava Daugavpils, the second and third teams from the previous season, were denied a license to participate and the league began with eight clubs. The champions of this season were FK Ventspils, followed by Skonto FC Teams The league had a ten-team circuit like the 2012 season. 2012 Latvian First League champions Ilūkstes NSS from Ilūkste were directly promoted. FK Daugava Rīga finished the 2012 season in ninth place and were therefore required to compete in a two-legged promotion/relegation play-off against First Division runners-up BFC Daugava. The 2012 Latvian Higher League was the 21st season of top-tier football in Latvia. It began on 24 March 2012 and ended on 10 November 2012. FK Ventspils are the defending champions. The league comprised ten teams, one more than in the previous season. Teams The league returned to a ten-team circuit after having been forced to play the 2011 season with only nine teams, following the withdrawal of SK Blāzma a few weeks before the season commenced. As a consequence of the Blāzma withdrawal, no team was directly relegated. 2011 Latvian First League champions FS METTA/Latvijas Universitāte from Riga were directly promoted. Latvian Football Cup
The Latvian Football Cup () is the main knockout cup competition in Latvian football. Since 2021, its full name is Responsible Game Latvian Football Cup (''Atbildīgas spēles Latvijas kauss'') due to the sponsorship by sports betting company William Hill. The tournament was launched in 1937, replacing the previous knockout tournament – the Riga Football Cup. The competition is a knockout (single elimination) tournament. From 1937 to 2008 and again since 2017, all of the games of the tournament are played within the year. During the Soviet occupation ( 1940–1941, 1944–1991) it served as a qualification tournament for the Soviet Cup. The competition was also fully played once during the German occupation of the Baltic states, in 1943. Aleksei Borisovich Yeryomenko (russian: Алексей Борисович Ерёменко; born 17 January 1964), also known as Alexei Eremenko Sr. is a Russian professional football manager and a former player who also holds Finnish citizenship. He is the manager of Estonian club JK Trans Narva. Playing career Yeryomenko made his debut in the Soviet Top League in 1981 for FC SKA Rostov-on-Don. Managerial career Yeryomenko was the manager of the Finnish club FF Jaro between August 2009 and June 2016. On 4 August 2016, Yeryomenko was appointed as manager of Kazakhstan Premier League side Shakhter Karagandy, being fired on 29 May 2017. Annunziato "Nunzio" Zavettieri (born 19 April 1967) is an Italian football manager, last in charge as head coach of Serie D club Nocerina. Biography He has coached at youth level at top Italian clubs A.C. Milan, Udinese and Inter Milan. Valdas Urbonas (born 29 November 1967) is a Lithuanian professional football manager and former player who currently is the manager of the Lithuanian national team.
