FK Bor Stadium
FK Bor Stadium, commonly known as Stadion kraj Pirita, is a multi-purpose stadium in Bor, Serbia. The current capacity of the stadium is 5,000. FK Bor stadium was built in 1956. First match was played in April 1957. between local rivals FK Bor and Metalac. In that period stadium was one of the most modern stadiums in former Yugoslavia. In 2014. FK Bor in a cooperation with Football Association of Serbia announce plans to build new stadium on the same place with capacity of 5000, where Serbia national football team will also play their home matches. However, this plan never materialized. Today, Public institution "Sports Center Bor" and the City of Bor are taking care of this stadium from 2019. This decision is made after four months of talks with FK Bor management and parents of kids from football academy. Bor ( sr-cyr, Бор; ro, Bor) is a city and the administrative center of the Bor District in eastern Serbia. According to the 2011 census, the city administrative area has a population of 48,615 inhabitants. It has one of the largest copper mines in Europe – RTB Bor. It has been a mining center since 1904, when a French company began operations there. With 760 residential buildings it presents the most urban area due to number of citizens in country, and one of top-five cities in Serbia by number of buildings. FK Bor (Serbian Cyrillic: ФК Бор) is a football club based in Bor, Serbia. History Early Years (1920s to 1960s) The club was founded in 1919 as a Serbian-French sports society under the name Association Sportive Bor (ASB). The club was financed by the French Society of the Bor Mines and managed by a Frenchman named Loren, the director of mechanical services in Bor mining company. Not much is recorded about the early club activity, until the first official game played in 1920. First ASB's head coach was Gallois, who also played for the club as well as for France national football team. ASB played only friendlies until early 1930s when it joined the Niš Football Subassociation where it played in the Timok Valley regional league with moderate success until the beginning of the Second World War. The Serbia national football team ( sr, Фудбалска репрезентација Србије, Fudbalska reprezentacija Srbije) represents Serbia in men's international football competition. It is controlled by the Football Association of Serbia, the governing body for football in Serbia. After the breakup of SFR Yugoslavia and its football team in 1992 Serbia was represented (alongside Montenegro) within the new FR Yugoslavia national football team.
