FIS Ski Flying World Championships 2016
The FIS Ski Flying World Championships 2016 was held between 15 and 17 January 2016 in Tauplitz/Bad Mitterndorf, Austria for the fifth time. Kulm hosted the event previously in 1975, 1986, 1996 and 2006. The individual defending champion was Severin Freund. Peter Prevc from Slovenia became new ski flying individual world champion after three rounds of competition with two of them were new hill records. Fourth round was cancelled due to wind conditions. Tauplitz is a former municipality in the district of Liezen in the Austrian state of Styria. Anders Fannemel (; born 13 May 1991) is a Norwegian ski jumper. He is a former ski flying world record holder, with set in Vikersund on 15 February 2015. Career Fannemel started ski jumping when he was 14 years old, which is rather late compared to other elite ski jumpers. He made his debut in the Continental Cup in September 2008 in Lillehammer, scoring two seventh places over two days. He finished in lower positions throughout the rest of the 2008/09 season, but in the 2009/10 season he recorded a fifth and a first place in the Continental Cup, again in Lillehammer, in August 2009. Jan Matura (born 29 January 1980) is a Czech former nordic skier competing from 1999 to 2001 and a former ski jumper competing from 2002 to 2017. Nordic combined Matura finished eighth in the 4 × 5 km team event at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano. His best results at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships was 34th in the 15 km individual at Ramsau in 1999. At the World Cup level, Matura's best finish was ninth in a 15 km individual event in Germany in 1999. Klemens Murańka (born 31 August 1994) is a Polish ski jumper, a member of the national team, a 2014 Junior World Champion in team, a bronze medalist of 2015 World Championship in team.
