FIS Ski Cross World Cup
The FIS Ski Cross World Cup is an annual freestyle skiing competition, a subdiscipline of FIS Freestyle Skiing World Cup under International Ski Federation. Races are hosted primarily at ski resorts in North America and the Alps in Europe. Discipline title Men Ladies Wins Statistics as of 2019-20 season. Les Contamines-Montjoie
Les Contamines-Montjoie () is a commune in the Haute-Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in south-eastern France. Etymology The original name of the village, ''Les Contamines,'' is from the word ''contamines'', which in the ancient local dialect meant ploughable land on the estate of the squire. History In 1760 the parish became independent of the parish of Saint-Nicolas de Véroce. Creation of the local Mountain Guides Company which was established in 1850, marked the first corporation in the village dedicated to tourism. Further development surged after 1900, in the form of hotels, restaurants, and, in 1911, a local ski club. The first ski lift began operation in 1937. Alex Fiva (born 29 January 1986) is a Swiss freestyle skier who specializes in the ski cross discipline. Career He started his career as an alpine skier who had some success as a junior. In 2006 he was the Swiss Junior Bronze medalist in the slalom discipline; however, he quit alpine skiing in 2007. Having switched to freestyle ski cross, he made his World Cup debut in March 2008 in Meiringen, with a 29th place. However, it wasn't until early 2010 that he showed his potential, winning back-to-back Europa Cup races. Brady Leman (born October 16, 1986) is a Canadian freestyle skier specializing in ski cross, and the reigning Olympic champion in that discipline following his victory in the ski cross event at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Career He won the opening event in the 2011–12 season after returning from multiple injuries and then finished the year as the second overall ranked male ski cross racer for the year.
