FIS Ski-Flying World Championships 2012
The FIS Ski Flying World Championships 2012 was a World championship in ski flying, held in Vikersund, Norway, from 23 to 26 February 2012. Vikersund hosted the event previously in 1977, 1990, and 2000. Events leading up to the championships In 2010, the hill was being rebuilt. This process which was started after the 2008-09 Ski Jumping World Cup, extended the length of the hill to HS225, making it the world's largest ski jumping hill. Cost to renovate the hill was planned at 80 million kr (€10 million). Included in the cost was a new judges tower, a ski lift, a spectator area, and wind nets. Hill construction took place where the old hill that was demolished in 2009. Adjustments was the hill turned several degrees and built into the ground to avoid wind problems. Outrun was elevated in order for it to be the same levels as the rest of the jumping hills at Vikersund. Vikersund
Vikersund is a town of 3,232 (in 2020) inhabitants in the municipality capital of Modum, in the county of Viken, Norway. Overview Vikersund is located 30 kilometers south of Hønefoss and 40 kilometers northwest of Drammen. The village is located at the southwestern arm of Tyrifjorden. Anssi Koivuranta
Anssi Einar Koivuranta (born 3 July 1988) is a retired Finnish ski jumper and former Nordic combined skier, best known for winning the 2008–09 FIS Nordic Combined World Cup. He won the gold medal in the 4 × 5 km team event and a bronze medal in the 15 km Gundersen race at the 2007 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Sapporo. After winning a Ski Jumping World Cup competition in Innsbruck on 4 January 2014, Koivuranta became the first ever athlete in history of ski jumping to win an event in both Nordic combined and the ski jumping World Cup. Krzysztof Miętus (; born 8 March 1991) is a Polish ski jumper, who has competed since 2008. He is a member of Polish youth team and participated in the Winter Olympics in Vancouver 2010. Personal life Krzysztof Miętus was born in Zakopane, Poland, but he lives in Dzianisz, Poland. His younger brother, Grzegorz, is also a ski jumper. Olli Muotka (born 14 July 1988, in Rovaniemi) is a Finnish ski jumper and former Nordic combined athlete. Before 2007 Muotka competed mainly in Nordic combined, in the Junior World Ski Championships and World Cup B competitions. Since 2007 Muotka started to concentrate on ski jumping. In 2007 Junior World Ski Championships he finished eighth in the normal hill and won a bronze medal in the team competition. Richard "Richi" Freitag (; born 14 August 1991) is a German former ski jumper who competed at World Cup level from 2010 to 2022. Career His FIS Ski Jumping World Cup debut took place on 29 December 2009 at the Four Hills Tournament in Oberstdorf, having previously gained success in the Continental Cup. On 3 January 2010, he succeeded in Innsbruck with a 30th place-his first World Cup point. At the FIS Ski-Flying World Championships 2010 in Planica he reached the 28th place in the individual event. Jakub Janda
Jakub Janda (; born 27 April 1978) is a Czech politician and former ski jumper. In ski jumping he competed from 1996 to 2017, winning the 2005/06 World Cup and 2005/06 Four Hills Tournament (shared with Janne Ahonen), as well as silver and bronze medals at the 2005 World Championships.
