FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships 1999
The 1999 FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships were held between March 10th and March 14th at the Meiringen-Hasliberg ski resort in Switzerland. The World Championships featured both men's and women's events in the Moguls, Aerials, Dual Moguls and Acro Skiing. This was to be the last appearance of Acro Skiing at the World Championships. FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships
The FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships is the world championship organized by the FIS for freestyle skiing. It was first organized in 1986 and is now held every odd year. Currently, the events included in the world championships are Moguls, Dual Moguls, Aerials, Ski cross, Slopestyle and Half-pipe. Formerly, Acroski and a combined event were held. Host cities * Starting from 2015, it combined with the FIS Snowboard World Championships. Ann Battelle
Ann Battelle (born January 18, 1968) is a world champion and World Cup champion on the U.S. Ski Team; she competed in the freestyle skiing events of moguls and dual moguls. Early years Former U.S. National Champion and World Cup Champion, Olympian, and Olympic Freestyle pioneer Ann Battelle was born in New York, and raised outside Burlington, Vermont. She was brought up skiing, doing competitive gymnastics, and playing soccer in the early years of Title IX. Also a gifted student, Battelle was advanced in mathematics, was fluent in Spanish at a young age, and played the oboe. She was a member of her highly successful varsity soccer team at Champlain Valley Union High School, in Hinesburg, Vermont, as well as a member of the accomplished varsity gymnastics team. Additionally, she skied with friends every weekend possible and on vacations, where her skills with moguls were apparent early on. Sandra Schmitt (April 26, 1981 – November 11, 2000) was a German freestyle skier. In 1998, she came 9th in the Women's Moguls contest at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano. Jacqueline Cooper (born 6 January 1973) is an Australian motivational speaker and retired freestyle skier. Skiing career Cooper started skiing aerials at age 16 and was on the Australian team for 20 years. During her career she had many injuries, including a shattered knee, elbow, hip, shoulder and a broken back. She finished in sixteenth place at the 1994 Winter Olympics and crashed out of the qualification round at the 1998 Winter Olympics. At the Salt Lake Winter Games in 2002, the three-time world champion was a favourite to win gold, but a training accident the week before those games shattered her knee.
