Birds Of Prey (ski Course)
Birds of Prey is a World Cup downhill ski course in the western United States, located at Beaver Creek Resort in Avon, Colorado. The race course made its World Cup debut in December 1997. Beaver Creek is a traditional early December stop on the men's World Cup calendar. The course hosted the World Championships in 1999 and 2015, and is also used for super-G and giant slalom races. Prior to 1995, the World Cup speed events in North America were usually held in the latter part of the racing season. This course has hosted total of 65 men's World Cup events ( eighth all-time), and an additional three speed events in March 1988 were on "Centennial", the former speed course at Beaver Creek. Fabienne Suter
Fabienne Suter (born 5 January 1985) is a former World Cup alpine ski racer from Switzerland. Born in Sattel in the canton of Schwyz, she specialized in super-G, giant slalom, and downhill. Career At the 2003 World Championships in St. Moritz, she fell in the giant slalom and injured her pelvis. While recovering, Suter resided in Calgary, Canada, with close family friends. This was followed by other injuries. Following appearances in FIS and Europa Cup races, she returned to the World Cup in for the 2007 She won a bronze medal as part of the team at the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in 2007 with Sandra Gini, Nadia Styger, Rabea Grand, Daniel Albrecht and Marc Berthod. Ragnhild Mowinckel (born 12 September 1992) is a Norwegian World Cup alpine ski racer, representing the club SK Rival. Career Born in Molde, Møre og Romsdal, Mowinckel won the gold medal at the Junior World Championships in 2012 in the giant slalom and super combined as well as bronze in super-G. Earlier that season in January, she made her World Cup debut in a slalom race at Zagreb. Mowinckel collected her first World Cup points with a 25th place in giant slalom in Schladming in March. Laurenne Ross (born August 17, 1988) is a former World Cup alpine ski racer from the United States. She specialized in the speed events of downhill and super G. Born in Edmonton, Alberta in Canada, Ross was on skis at age two at the Snow Valley ski hill, as her father was a former alpine racer. The family moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon, when she was age 7 and Ross skied and raced at Mount Bachelor near Bend. She was selected to the U.S. Ski Team in 2006, and made her World Cup debut in December 2009. Ross was moved up to the World Cup team for the 2011 season and represented the U.S. at the 2011 World Championships, where she finished tenth in the women's downhill.
