FIM Supercross World Championship
The FIM Supercross World Championship is the premier championship for international stadium supercross racing. It is organized by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), the global governing body of motorcycle racing. History The series has its roots in the Rodil Trophy which was elevated to World Championship status in 1987. References to Rodil were removed in 1992 as the series became the FIM World Supercross Championship. From 2002 to 2006 in partnership with American-owned promoters Clear Channel Entertainment the series was staged in countries such as Switzerland, the Netherlands, Spain and Canada as well as the United States (which had its own prestigious national championship) as the World Supercross GP. In 2008 the series merged with the AMA Supercross Championship to form the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship. Motocross is a form of off-road motorcycle racing held on enclosed off-road circuits. The sport evolved from motorcycle trials competitions held in the United Kingdom. History Motocross first evolved in Britain from motorcycle trials competitions, such as the Auto-Cycle Clubs's first quarterly trial in 1909 and the Scottish Six Days Trial that began in 1912. When organisers dispensed with delicate balancing and strict scoring of trials in favour of a race to become the fastest rider to the finish, the activity became known as "hare scrambles", said to have originated in the phrase, "a rare old scramble" describing one such early race. 2020 AMA Supercross Championship
The 2020 AMA Supercross Championship is an American motorcycle racing championship that started January 4, 2020, and ended June 21, 2020. Ten of the 17 rounds had been completed when the season was suspended on March 12, 2020, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. On May 14, 2020, promoter Feld Entertainment announced the season would conclude with races on Wednesdays and Sundays at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah. Results Events Rescheduled / Relocated Races at rounds 11-17 were cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. On March 25, 2020, Feld Motor Sports announced their intention to complete the season later in the year. On May 14, 2020, the Feld Motor Sports announced the season would finish with seven races over May and June behind closed doors. Eli Tomac (born November 14, 1992) is an American professional Motocross and Supercross racer competing in the AMA Supercross and Motocross championships; a 2-Time AMA Supercross Champion, a 5-Time AMA Pro Motocross Champion and a Regional 250 Supercross Champion. Ken Roczen (born 29 April 1994 in Mattstedt, Germany) is a German professional motocross and supercross racer. He competed in the Motocross World Championships from 2009 to 2011 and the AMA Supercross Championships since 2011. The 2022 FIM Supercross World Championship was a supercross series sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, FIM as the world championship of the sport.
