Mark Grimmette (luge)
Mark Grimmette (born January 23, 1971) is an American luger who competed from 1990 to 2010. Competing in five Winter Olympics, he won two medals in the men's doubles event with a silver in 2002 and a bronze in 1998. He was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Grimmette also won nine medals at the FIL World Luge Championships with two silvers (Mixed team: 2004, 2005) and seven bronzes (Men's doubles: 1999, 2000, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2009; Mixed team: 2001). He won the overall Luge World Cup men's doubles title three times (1997–1998, 1998–1999, 2002–2003). He was selected in December 2009 to compete in the 2010 Winter Olympics. Grimmette carried the United States flag during the opening ceremony of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. He announced his retirement on March 17, 2010. On April 29, 2010, it was announced that Grimmette was named USA Luge's Sports Program Director and also was involved as a head coach. Armin Zöggeler OMRI (born 4 January 1974) is a retired Italian luger and double Olympic champion. He is one of the most successful men in the sport, nicknamed ''Il Cannibale'' ("The Cannibal"), for his notable series of victories, or ''The Iceblood Champion'', for his always cold, rational approach to the races. Fellow luger Tucker West described Zöggeler as the sport's equivalent of Michael Jordan. Ashley Walden (née Hayden; born November 5, 1981, in Framingham, Massachusetts) is an American luger who has competed since 1998. She won two silver medals in the mixed team event at the FIL World Luge Championships (2004, 2005). Hayden also finished eighth in the women's singles event at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. Her best result in the Luge World Cup was a third place at Winterberg in 2005. Antony Lee "Tony" Benshoof (born July 7, 1975) is an American luger from White Bear Lake, Minnesota who has been competing since 1990. He won three medals in the mixed team event at the FIL World Luge Championships with two silvers ( 2004, 2005) and one bronze ( 2001). Benshoof was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Competing in three Winter Olympics, Benshoof earned his best finish of fourth by .153 seconds in the men's singles event at Turin in 2006.
