FIK BFG Fana
Friidrettsklubben BFG Fana is a Norwegian athletics club from Fana in Bergen, founded in 1987 as an umbrella team for Bjarg, Fana and Gneist. BFG Fana uses the Fana stadion, and hosted the Bislett Games in 2004. Among its most prominent members are marathon runner Stine Larsen, who represented Norway at the 2004 Summer Olympics. International 800 metres runner Atle Douglas has also represented BFG Fana. Mona Karin Riisnes, who holds two national records in relay races, both in 4 x 100 metres relay with 44.91 seconds from June 1994 in Istanbul and in 4 x 400 metres relay with 3:32.76 minutes from the 1991 World Championships in Athletics in Tokyo. Kirsten Melkevik Otterbu represented Norway in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, finishing 34th at the women's marathon with the time 2.34.35 (PB 2.29.12) In October 2012, Fana IL decided to withdraw from the umbrella team. Stine Larsen (runner)
Stine Larsen (born 5 November 1975) is a retired Norwegian long-distance runner who specialized in the marathon. In her younger days she won a bronze medal in the 10,000 metres at the inaugural European Under 23 Championships in 1997, finishing behind Olivera Jevtic and Annemari Sandell. She finished twelfth at the 2000 World Half Marathon Championships. In the marathon event she has finished seventeenth at the 2003 World Championships and twenty-fourth at the 2004 Olympic Games. She became Norwegian champion in the half marathon in 1999, representing the sports club FIK BFG Fana. 1991 World Championships In Athletics
The 3rd World Championships in Athletics, under the auspices of the International Association of Athletics Federations, were held in the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo, Japan between August 23 and September 1. 1517 athletes from 167 countries participated in the event. Japan hosted again the championship in 2007 in Osaka and Tokyo will host again the event in 2025 at the same venue. The event is best-remembered for the men's long jump competition, when Carl Lewis made the best six-jump series in history, only to be beaten by Mike Powell, whose jump broke Bob Beamon's long-standing world record from the 1968 Summer Olympics. Atle Douglas
Atle Douglas (born 9 June 1968 in Oxford, England) is a retired Norwegian middle-distance runner who specialized in the 800 metres. He represented BFG Fana, SK Vidar, Bergen FIK, IL Gular and IL Norna-Salhus during his active career. He finished eighth at the 1994 European Championships. He also competed at the 1992 and 1996 Summer Olympics as well as the World Championships in 1993 and 1995 without reaching the finals. He became Norwegian champion in the years 1987–1990, 1993, 1995 and 1998. His personal best time was 1:43.69 minutes, achieved in September 1995 in Rieti. Bislett Games
The Bislett Games is an annual track and field meeting at the Bislett Stadium in Oslo, Norway. Previously one of the IAAF Golden League events, it is now part of the Diamond League. History The first international athletics meeting at Bislett was held in 1924. Until 1937 the competitions are known as "The American Meetings". Different organizers staged the meetings between 1947 and 1965 until the three athletics associations BUL, Vidar and Tjalve formed the Bislett Alliance. At this year Arne Haukvik founded the Bislett Games. He was a former politician and director of the meeting, who used to invite the athletes, sponsors and the press to his home for his traditional "strawberry party" the day before the event each year. He died of cancer in 2002 at age 76. The tradition however is continued. Fana Stadion
Fana stadion is a multi-use stadium at Rådal in the borough of Fana in Bergen, Norway. Used for football matches, it is the home ground of Second Division team Fana IL. It also has a rubber track for track and field meets, and the stadium most notably hosted the 2004 Bergen Bislett Games.
