FIBA EuroStar
FIBA EuroStars was an annual event, organized by FIBA Europe, as a showcase basketball game, from the 1996–97 season, until the 1999–2000 season. Commonly considered as the European equivalent of the NBA All-Star Game, the FIBA EuroStars game featured the season's best players, from both the European-wide top-tier level EuroLeague, and the European-wide 2nd-tier level FIBA Saporta Cup. Diversity was also paramount in the selection process, which aimed at allowing several different European basketball schools to be represented.FIBA EuroStars was the replacement All-European Team selection and all-star game of the original FIBA Festival (1964–1995). FIBA Europe is the administrative body for basketball in Europe, within the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), which includes all 50 national European basketball federations. In reaction to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, FIBA Europe mandated that no official basketball competitions are to be held in either Russia or Belarus, while the teams of the Russian Basketball Federation and of the Belarusian Basketball Federation are being withdrawn from national team competitions and from the club competition season 2022-23. Nikos Oikonomou
Nikolaos "Nikos" Oikonomou (alternate spellings: Ikonomou, Ekonomou) (Greek: Νικόλαος "Νίκος" Οικονόμου; born February 19, 1973) is a retired Greek professional basketball player, and a current professional basketball coach. As a basketball player, he was a 2.08 m (6 ft 10 in) tall power forward and four-time FIBA EuroStar selection. Oikonomou also runs Basket4All, a basketball camp for young children. Club playing career Oikonomou started his playing career with the Greek club Ionikos Nikaias. From 1991 to 1998, he was a member of the Greek club Panathinaikos. Panagiotis "Panos" Fasoulas (alternate spelling: Fassoulas; Greek: Παναγιώτης Φασούλας; born May 12, 1963 in Thessaloniki) is a Greek politician and former professional basketball player. He was selected in the second round by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 1986 NBA draft, but never decided to play in the NBA. Considered to be one of the best big men ever in European basketball, Fasoulas became a FIBA Hall of Fame player in 2016. Pallacanestro Treviso, named Benetton Basket due to a long running sponsorship by the Benetton Group and widely referred to as Benetton Treviso, is an Italian youth basketball club based in Treviso, Veneto. The club was previously a successful professional club until 2012 when the Benetton Group decided to withdraw from professional basketball, though they retained the youth section at La Ghirada, the sports complex they own. İbrahim Kutluay (born January 7, 1974) is a former Turkish professional basketball player who has been a manager and pundit since his retirement. He played the shooting guard position, and in his prime, was one of the most prolific 3-point shooters worldwide. He scored a record 50 points at the 1996 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship against Italy, and also 41 points in a EuroLeague game against Cibona Zagreb during the 1998–99 season.
