FIA WTCC Race Of Belgium
The FIA WTCR Race of Belgium, previously known as the FIA WTCC Race of Belgium, is a round of the World Touring Car Cup, most recently held at the Circuit Zolder in Belgium. It has also been held at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. The race was run in the first season of the revived World Touring Car Championship in 2005, at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. Having been left off the calendar for four seasons, the Race of Belgium returned in 2010, this time being held at Zolder. Having also run in 2011, Belgium was left off the 2012 calendar. The race is scheduled to return for the 2014 season, returning to the Spa–Francorchamps circuit with a provisional date of 22 June. Belgium was dropped from the calendar once again when the 2015 schedule was revealed. No Belgian drivers have won their home race although two drivers, Pierre-Yves Corthals and Vincent Radermecker have both contested their home event. Circuit Zolder
The Circuit Zolder, also known as Circuit Terlamen, is an undulating motorsport race track in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium. History Built in 1963, Zolder hosted the Formula One Belgian Grand Prix on 10 separate occasions in the 1970s and 1980s, as well as the 1980 Belgian motorcycle Grand Prix. F1 moved to Zolder in 1973 and with the exception of a race at Nivelles-Baulers in 1974, Zolder was the location of the Belgian Grand Prix until 1982. That year, Canadian driver Gilles Villeneuve was killed during qualifying at the 1982 Belgian Grand Prix. Villeneuve's Ferrari 126 C#126C2 (1982), Ferrari 126C2 collided at speed with the March 821 of Jochen Mass. The Ferrari was torn up in the accident and when rolling, Villeneuve was thrown from the car. José María "Pechito" López (born 26 April 1983) is an Argentine race car driver who is currently competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship with Toyota Gazoo Racing and 2014–2016 World Touring Car Champion. He raced in the 2006 GP2 Series for the Super Nova team, and previously for the DAMS team, and the CMS team in Formula 3000. He was also at Renault F1 as a test driver. Pierre-Yves Corthals (born 23 October 1975 in Liège) is a Belgian auto racing driver.
