FECRIS
FECRIS (Fédération Européenne des Centres de Recherche et d'Information sur le Sectarisme) – European Federation of Centres of Research and Information on Sectarianism, a French non-profit association and anti-cult organization, serves as an umbrella organization for groups which investigate the activities of groups considered cults in Europe. History FECRIS was formed as a French non-profit association, founded in Paris on 30 June 1994 at the request of the French anti-sect association UNADFI (National Union of Associations for the Defence of Family and the Individual), after the 1993 Congress on Sectarianism in Barcelona. FECRIS serves as an umbrella organization for groups which investigate the activities of groups they consider cults in Europe, and it describes itself as "politically, philosophically and religiously neutral". Union Nationale Des Associations De Défense Des Familles Et De L'individu
The Union nationale des associations de défense des familles et de l'individu (UNADFI) is a French anti-cult association founded in 1974, recognized as a public utility association by a decree of 30 April 1996, and directly subsidized by the French state. It gathers and coordinates the Associations de Défense des Familles et de l'Individu (ADFI), whose purpose is to acquire information on the cult phenomenon with prevention and assistance for its victims. In 1992, Janine Tavernier was the president of the association. But, in 2001 she resigned and began to criticize it. She was first replaced by Bernard Le Heritte, then in 2004 by Socialist deputy Catherine Picard. As of 31 December 2004, UNADFI was composed of 26 ADFI associations and totaled 1,520 member families. Eileen Vartan Barker (born 21 April 1938, in Edinburgh, UK) is a professor in sociology, an emeritus member of the London School of Economics (LSE), and a consultant to that institution's Centre for the Study of Human Rights. She is the chairperson and founder of the Information Network Focus on Religious Movements (INFORM) and has written studies about cults and new religious movements.
