FC Viljandi (2011)
FC Viljandi was an Estonian football club from the town of Viljandi, that played in the Estonian Meistriliiga in 2011 and 2012. History The club was created in early 2011, after Viljandi JK Tulevik decided to rebuild the squad with local amateur players and dropped down two levels to play in second league. As that left a gap in Meistriliiga, it was filled with a temporary club FC Viljandi, which was mostly composed by the same players that previously played for Tulevik. The club was withdrawn from the championship after the 2012 season, when Tulevik won promotion to Esiliiga, the second highest division of Estonia. Viljandi Linnastaadion
Viljandi linnastaadion is a multi-purpose stadium in Viljandi, Estonia. It is used mostly for football matches and hosts the matches of Viljandi JK Tulevik. Estonian Football Association
The Estonian Football Association (EJL; et, Eesti Jalgpalli Liit) is the governing body of football, beach soccer and futsal in Estonia, established on 14 December 1921. It organizes the football league, including the championship which is called Meistriliiga, Estonian Cup and the Estonian national football team. It is based in Tallinn. EJL became a member of FIFA in 1923, but following Estonia's annexation by the Soviet Union it was disbanded. It became a member again in 1992 after Estonia reinstated its independence. Meistriliiga Clubs
Meistriliiga (, known as the A. Le Coq Premium Liiga for sponsorship reasons) is the highest division of the Estonian Football Association annual football championship. The league was founded in 1992, and was initially semi-professional with amateur clubs allowed to compete. With the help of solidarity mechanisms, the league is fully professional since the 2020 season. As in most countries with low temperatures in winter time, the season starts in March and ends in November. Meistriliiga consists of ten clubs, all teams play each other four times. After each season the bottom team is relegated and the second last team plays a two-legged play-off for a place in the Meistriliiga. In February 2013, A. Le Coq, an Estonian brewery company, signed a five-year cooperation agreement with the Estonian Football Association, which included Meistriliiga naming rights. 2012 Meistriliiga
The 2012 season of the Meistriliiga the first level in the Estonian football system is the 22nd season in the league's history. The competition started on 10 March 2012 and will end on 3 November 2012. The defending champions are Flora, who won their ninth league championship last year. Teams Ajax finished the 2011 season in 10th place and were directly relegated to the Esiliiga, ending a one-year stay in the Estonian top flight. They were replaced by Tallinna Kalev, who return to the league after a two-year absence. In addition, the 9th-placed Meistriliiga club, Kuressaare, faced the runners-up of the Esiliiga, Infonet, in a two-legged play-off for a spot in this season's competition. Karl Mööl (born 4 March 1992) is an Estonian professional footballer who plays as a right back for Estonian club Paide Linnameeskond and the Estonia national team. Club career Flora Mööl first played for a local club Kotkad, and joined the Flora youth academy in 2008. He made his debut in the Meistriliiga on 11 July 2009, in a 2–1 home victory over Tammeka. In July 2010, Mööl moved to Tulevik on loan until the end of the 2010 season. In 2011, he joined Viljandi on a season-long loan. Mööl scored his first Meistriliiga goal on 4 June 2011, in a 2–0 away victory over Kuressaare. Mööl scored his first goal for Flora on 6 March 2012, in an Estonian Supercup match against Narva Trans, winning the game 4–0. On 18 May 2013, he won the Estonian Cup. The 2011 Meistriliiga was the 21st season of the Meistriliiga, the top Estonian league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 1992. The season began on 5 March 2011 and concluded on 5 November 2011. The defending champions Flora won their ninth league title. Teams Lootus finished the 2010 season in last place and were relegated to the 2011 Esiliiga as a result, ending their one-year stay in the Estonian top flight. Taking their place were Ajax, who finished the 2010 Esiliiga first among promotion-eligible clubs and third overall. They returned to the top flight after a three-year absence. Tulevik terminated their affiliation with Flora and continued as an independent club in the II Liiga. FC Viljandi was created to ensure top level football would remain in the city of Viljandi. Esiliiga
The Esiliiga is the second division in the Estonian football league system. The Esiliiga is ranked below the Meistriliiga and above the Esiliiga B. As in most countries with low temperatures in winter time, the season starts in March and ends in November. The league features several reserve teams of Meistriliiga clubs. According to the rules set by the Estonian Football Association, reserve teams are ineligible for promotion to the Meistriliiga, but can play in the Estonian Cup. Competition format During the season, the teams play each of the other four times, twice at home and twice away. This makes for a total of 36 games played each season. The teams gain three points for a win, one for a draw, and none for a defeat. Promotion and relegation between divisions is a central feature of the league. Viljandi (, german: Fellin, sv, Fellin) is a town and municipality in southern Estonia with a population of 17,407 in 2019. It is the capital of Viljandi County and is geographically located between two major Estonian cities, Pärnu and Tartu. The town was first mentioned in 1283, upon being granted its town charter by Wilhelm von Endorpe. The town became a member of the Hanseatic League at the beginning of the 14th century, and is one of five Estonian towns and cities in the league.
