Football Club Twente (), sometimes known internationally as FC Twente Enschede, is a Dutch professional football club from the city of Enschede. The club was formed in 1965 by the merger of 1926 Dutch champions Sportclub Enschede with Enschedese Boys. FC Twente's trophy cabinet includes the 2011 Dutch Cup, the 2011 Dutch Super Cup, and the 2009-10 Eredivisie title. They were runner-up in the Eredivisie in two other seasons, and finished second in the 1974-75 UEFA Cup. They have also won the Dutch Cup three times, most recently in 2011. Twente's home ground since 1998 is De Grolsch Veste. Since 2019, the team have played in the Eredivisie, the top division of Dutch football. De Grolsch Veste (, en, The Grolsch Fortress, previously known as ''Arke Stadion'' ) is the stadium of football club FC Twente. It is located in Enschede, Netherlands, at the Business & Science Park, near the University of Twente. The stadium has an all-seated capacity of 30,205 with a standard pitch heating system and has a promenade instead of fences around the stands. It hosted the final of the UEFA Women's Euro 2017. History De Grolsch Veste replaced the old Diekman Stadion as FC Twente's home ground on 22 March 1998. Plans had been afoot to expand and to renovate the old and now demolished Diekman Stadion. 2008–09 Eredivisie
The Eredivisie 2008–09 is the 53rd season of Eredivisie since its establishment in 1955. PSV were the reigning champions. The season began on 29 August 2008 with a game between Vitesse Arnhem and FC Groningen and ended on 10 May 2009. A total of 18 teams take part in the league, consisting of 16 who competed in the previous season and two promoted from the Eerste Divisie. 1997–98 UEFA Cup
The 1997–98 UEFA Cup was won by Internazionale in an all-Italian final against Lazio. It was their third title in eight years in the competition. It was the first instance of the UEFA Cup final being a one-game contest at a neutral stadium, having previously being decided over two legs with each team having one home game. Hans Meyer (born 3 November 1942) is a German former professional football player and manager. Managerial career East Germany (1971–1987) Meyer was born in Briesen near Bilin, German Empire, today Bílina, Czech Republic. He was manager of Carl Zeiss Jena from 1 July 1971 to 23 October 1983. His first match was a 1–0 win against Vorwärts Stralsund on 29 August 1971. During the 1971–72 season, Carl Zeiss Jena participated in the UEFA Cup. They were eliminated by the Wolverhampton Wanderers in the round of 16.
