Football Club Pavlikeni ( bg, Павликени) are a Bulgarian Association football, football club based in Pavlikeni, who compete in the Third Amateur Football League (Bulgaria), North-West Third League, the third division of Bulgarian football. History The club was founded as Hadzhislavchev in 1928. In 1954, the club won promotion for the Bulgarian A Football Group, A Group for first time in the club's history. Pavlikeni
Pavlikeni ( bg, Павликени ) is a town in Veliko Tarnovo Province, Northern Bulgaria, about 41 kilometers from the city of Veliko Tarnovo. It is the administrative centre of the homonymous Pavlikeni Municipality. As of December 2010, the town has a population of 11,604 inhabitants. History Pavlikeni was a centre of ceramics and pottery in Antiquity as evidenced by the remains from Roman and Thracian times. Its name derives from the Paulicians, a Christian sect settled in Thrace by Leo the Isaurian. The modern town emerged in the 13th–14th centuries as a village initially called ''Marinopoltsi''. During the Ottoman rule of Bulgaria, the demographics of the village changed significantly, as many Turks settled to make it a purely Turkish village. The Bulgarian Third Amateur Football League ( bg, Трета аматьорска футболна лига, Treta Amat'orska Futbolna Liga), commonly referred to as Third League ( bg, Трета лига) or Treta liga, is the third level of the Bulgarian football league system. Third League operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the second and the fourth tier of the Bulgarian football league pyramid – respectively being Second League and the A Oblast Groups. Currently Third League consists of four divisions that are formed by separating the country into four regions: ''North-West'', ''South-West'', ''North-East'' and ''South-East''. The 2019–20 Third Amateur Football League season was the 70th season of the Bulgarian Third Amateur Football League. The group is equivalent to the third level of the Bulgarian football pyramid with four divisions existing in it. The divisions themselves are geographically separated into ''North-West'', ''North-East'', ''South-East'', and ''South-West'', covering the football clubs of their respective zones. This is the second season after the reorganization of the Bulgarian football system, which saw the emergence of new competition formats, such as First and Second Professional Football Leagues.
