FC Minsk Stadium
FC Minsk Stadium is a football stadium in Minsk, Belarus. It is a home ground of FC Minsk. The stadium holds 3,000 people. History The stadium was built at the same location as former Kamvolschik Stadium, which was most recently used for lower leagues, youth and reserve teams matches. By mid-2000s it had been largely abandoned and was slowly decaying. In the past, the stadium was used for Belarusian SSR league games and as an occasional substitute pitch for Belarusian Premier League and Belarusian Cup games by various clubs. Modern use In 2011 Kamvolschik Stadium was demolished. The new FC Minsk Stadium was built between 2012 and 2015 and opened in May 2015. Since then it was used primarily as a home venue by FC Minsk, as well as their women's team. FC Minsk ( be, ФК Мінск) is a professional football club based in Minsk, Belarus. They play in the Belarusian Premier League, the highest tier of Belarusian football. Their colours are red and navy blue. History The club was established in 2006 and was based on the Belarusian First League club '' Smena Minsk''. FC Minsk took over Smena's license and was able to start immediately operating in the Belarusian First League without having to first play in the Second League, the third tier in Belarus. In the club's inaugural season in the First League, they were able to finish in first place guaranteeing them promotion to the Belarusian Premier League. ZFK Minsk is a Belarusian women's football team based in Minsk. It plays its home matches at the FC Minsk Stadium. History It originally competed in the Belarusian Premier League as Minchanka-BGPU before becoming the women's section of FC Minsk in 2010. In 2011, it won the national cup, its first title, and soon afterwards it rose to the championship's top positions. The Belarusian Premier League or the Vyšejšaja Liha or the Vysheyshaya Liga ( be, Вышэйшая ліга, russian: Высшая лига, "Top League") is the top division of professional football in Belarus, and is organized by the Belarusian Football Federation. The number of teams in the competition has varied over the years from as high as 17 (1992–93 season) to as low as 11 (2012). As of 2016, the league included 16 teams. Each team plays every other team twice during the course of the season. At the end of the season, the two teams with the fewest points are automatically relegated to the Belarusian First League, while the third worst team plays a promotion-relegation playoff against the third best team from the second tier. The UEFA Youth League is an annual club football competition organised by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) since 2013.
