Fotbal Club Gaz Metan Târgu Mureș was a Romanian football club from Târgu Mureș, Mureș County. In its history, Gaz Metan has played for eight seasons in Liga III, between 2000 and 2009. History Gaz Metan achieved promotion to the Divizia C, Romanian's third division, at the end of the 1999–2000 season, winning Divizia D – Mureș County. During its first season in Divizia C, 2000–01, coached by Florea Ispir, Gaz Metan enjoying a good form finishing in 2nd place. In the following season, "Mureșenii" finished on the 8th place. Liga IV
Liga IV is the fourth level of the Romanian football league system. Its name was changed from Divizia D into Liga IV before the start of play for the 2006–07 season. Current format Liga IV has 42 divisions. The divisions are regionalised and are organised by every county association. Each team plays in their own county. The county associations decide how many teams play in the league and how many matches each side plays. In Romania the most frequently used system is one division with matches played home and away. A number of associations prefer 2 or even 4 parallel divisions with the teams finishing first meeting in a play-off to decide the champion. The number of teams differ from one county association to another. The Mureș County association has the fewest teams, 8, which play in a Scottish system, playing 4 times against one another. The 2002–03 Divizia C season was the 47th season of Divizia C, the third tier of the Romanian football league system. Standings Seria I Serie II *CS Voluntari retired at the beginning of second part of the championship and lost all the rest of the matches with 3-0 *Ambianța Valea-Ciorii retired from championship after round 6 and all its results were canceled *Metalul Băicoi - Turistul Pietroasa (3-1) was homologated with 3-0, because the guests used a suspended player, Zaibert *Tractorul - Proodeftiki (8-0) was awarded 0-3. *Turistul Pietroasa - Poiana Câmpina (1-1) was awarded 3-0, as Ioan Chiția played while under suspension. 2007–08 Liga III
The 2007–08 Liga III season was the 52nd season of Liga III, the third tier of the Romanian football league system. It was the second in this format (six series of 18 teams each). The winners of each division got promoted to the 2008-09 Liga II season. There were also two playoff tournaments held at neutral venues involving the second placed teams, one with those from series 1, 2 and 3, the other with those from series 4, 5, and 6. The winners of the playoffs also got promoted to the 2008-09 Liga II season. The bottom three from each division were relegated at the end of the season to the county football leagues (Liga IV). From the 15th placed teams, another three were relegated. To determine these teams, separate standings were computed, using only the games played against clubs ranked 1st through 14th.
