Experimental Television Center
The Experimental Television Center (ETC) (1969–2011) was a nonprofit electronic and media art center located in upstate New York. History The Experimental Television Center (ETC) was founded in 1971 by Ralph Hocking. The center was the result of the expansion of a media access program that Ralph Hocking established as professor of video and computer art at Binghamton University in 1969. Some years later, in July 1979, the center was moved from Binghamton to Owego, New York. The ETC, directed by Ralph Hocking and Sherry Miller Hocking, was devoted to the exploration and development of potential uses of new technology in video and media art. Artists, social, cultural and educational organizations and also interested individuals worked in innovative image processing tools, using all the equipment and the studio facilities with no charge. Electronic Art
Electronic art is a form of art that makes use of electronic media. More broadly, it refers to technology and/or electronic media. It is related to information art, new media art, video art, digital art, interactive art, internet art, and electronic music. It is considered an outgrowth of conceptual art and systems art. Background The term ''electronic art'' is almost synonymous to computer art and digital art. The latter two terms, and especially the term computer-generated art are mostly used for visual artworks generated by computers. However, electronic art has a much broader connotation, referring to artworks that include any type of electronic component, such as works in music, dance, architecture and performance. Irit Batsry
Irit Batsry (born 1957) is an Israeli-American visual and installation artist. Biography Batsry graduated from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in fine art in 1982. She moved to New York City, and became an instructor and on-line editor for ''Film/Video Arts''. Through her career she has produced experimental videos and installations that have been shown around the world including the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C., The Biosphere in Montreal, the Musee de Arte in Rio de Janeiro and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid. Amy Jenkins
Amy Jenkins (born 1966, in London) is an English novelist and screenwriter. She is the daughter of political journalist Peter Jenkins and the stepdaughter of ''The Guardian'' columnist and author Polly Toynbee. In 2004 she married Jonathan Heawood, and they have one son. Jenkins was educated at Pimlico School, a state secondary, before attending the sixth form of the private Westminster School. She went on to study law at University College London. Gary Hill
Gary Hill (born April 4, 1951) is an American artist who lives and works in Seattle, Washington. Barbara Jean Hammer (May 15, 1939 – March 16, 2019) was an American feminist film director, producer, writer, and cinematographer. She is known for being one of the pioneers of the lesbian film genre, and her career spanned over 50 years. Shalom Gorewitz (born 1949) is an American visual artist. Gorewitz was among the first generation of artists who used early video technology as an expressive medium. Emergency Broadcast Network is a multimedia performance group formed in 1991 that took its name from the Emergency Broadcast System. The founders were Rhode Island School of Design graduates Joshua Pearson, Gardner Post, and Brian Kane (author of the Vujak VJ software). Kane left EBN in 1992.
