The Executive Council of Nunavut or cabinet includes a Premier and eight Ministers and is elected by the members of the Legislative Assembly from among the Assembly members. The cabinet members provide the political direction and accountability for each function, while the Deputy Minister of each department is appointed position with responsibility to guide and manage the daily administration of the budgets and programs of government. David Joanasie
David Joanasie (born June 22, 1983) is a Canadian Inuk politician from Cape Dorset, Nunavut. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut in the 2013 election. He represents the electoral district of South Baffin. Education David attended school at Cape Dorset and learned Inuktitut up until third grade. Adam Lightstone
Adam Arreak Lightstone is a Canadian politician, who was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut in the 2017 general election. He represents the electoral district of Iqaluit-Manirajak. Originally from Rankin Inlet, Lightstone spent his youth between Iqaluit and Kingston, Ontario. Prior to entering politics, he worked in several roles in the Department of Finance of the government of Nunavut, most recently as a senior fiscal advisor with the expenditure management division, where he worked to prepare the government's budgets, monitor forecasts, and provide recommendations on financial matters to the Financial Management Board. Lorne Kusugak is a Canadian politician, who is Member of the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut for the electoral district of Rankin Inlet South. Prior to becoming an MLA, Kusugak was the mayor of Rankin Inlet. Kusugak served as the Nunavut Minister for Community and Government Services, Minister for Energy and the Minister responsible for the Qulliq Energy Corporation.
