Evangelical Church Of India
The Evangelical Church of India (ECI) is a Christian denomination in India. It operates the Allahabad Bible Seminary in Allahabad, the Calcutta Bible Seminary in Kolkata and the Madras Theological Seminary and College in Chennai. Its came into existence because of the activity of the Oriental Missionary Society, (One Mission Society or OMS). The church has more than 100,000 members. The denomination is relatively progressive and, in 2012, ordained its first openly transgender pastor. A Christian denomination is a distinct religious body within Christianity that comprises all church congregations of the same kind, identifiable by traits such as a name, particular history, organization, leadership, theological doctrine, worship style and sometimes a founder. Allahabad Bible Seminary
Allahabad (), officially known as Prayagraj, also known as Ilahabad, is a metropolis in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.The other five cities were: Agra, Kanpur (Cawnpore), Lucknow, Meerut, and Varanasi (Benares). It is the administrative headquarters of the Allahabad district—the most populous district in the state and 13th most populous district in India—and the Allahabad division. The city is the judicial capital of Uttar Pradesh with the Allahabad High Court being the highest judicial body in the state.
