European Sprint Swimming Championships 1992
The 1992 LEN European Sprint Swimming Championships were the second edition of what later became the European Short Course Championships. It was held in Espoo, Finland from 21–22 December 1992, and was organised by the Ligue Européenne de Natation. Only the 50 m events and the 100 m individual medley were at stake. Espoo
Espoo (, ; sv, Esbo) is a city and municipality in the region of Uusimaa in the Republic of Finland. It is located on the northern shore of the Gulf of Finland, bordering the cities of Helsinki, Vantaa, Kirkkonummi, Vihti and Nurmijärvi while surrounding the enclaved town of Kauniainen. Indrek Sei (born 26 July 1972 in Tallinn) is a former freestyle swimmer from Estonia. He competed in three consecutive Summer Olympics for his native country, starting in 1992. Sei won the bronze medal in the 100m Individual Medley at the European Sprint Swimming Championships 1991 in Gelsenkirchen. A year later in Espoo, Sei repeated that feat. Inge de Bruijn (; born 24 August 1973) is a Dutch former competitive swimmer. She is a four-time Olympic champion and a former world record-holder. Personal De Bruijn was born in Barendrecht, Netherlands. Inge is the sister of Olympic water polo player Matthijs de Bruijn. Swimming career De Bruijn tried several sports before eventually specializing in swimming. De Bruijn debuted at the World Aquatics Championships in January 1991, winning a bronze medal with the 4×100 m relay team, with which she won the gold medal at the European LC Championships in August of that year. Nina Aleksandrovna Zhivanevskaya (russian: Нина Александровна Живаневская, born 24 June 1977) is a 5-time Olympic backstroke swimmer from Russia, who has swum for Spain since 1999, following her marriage to a Spaniard (and moving to Spain). She swam at the 1992 Olympics for the Unified Team, Russia at the 1996 Olympics, and Spain at the 2000, 2004 and 2008 Olympics. At the 1992 Games, she won a bronze medal in the 4×100 m medley relay, and was the youngest member of the Unified Team swimming squad (18 men and 11 women), with 15 years and 35 days. She won the bronze medal in the 100 m backstroke a year later at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia. Zhivanevskaya took part in the 2008 Olympic Games, reaching the semi-finals in the 100 m backstroke.
